Top 5 of the week: long sleeved tees

23

I’ve had a few requests for this post lately, and I get it—for some reason, it’s much, much easier to find cute short-sleeved tees than long-sleeved ones, but long is what this time of year requires. I like so much about this tee: it’s punchy hue, its unfinished hem, its roomy fit.

I love James Perse tees because they’re nice and thin and hang well. But they’re pricey, so I always look for them on Nordstrom Rack, where I found this one, generously marked down and available in a few other colors.

J. Crew’s tee is on the more substantial side, but doesn’t seem bulky.

Here’s an organic cotton option with a slightly slimmer fit.

And this one offers ample butt coverage, if that’s your thing.

Some good options here. I favor v-necks and they seem to be in short supply. And some are just cut way too low, or more like a scoop-neck. It seems to me that either no one else wears them, or it is a supply chain thing, bc it seems some mfrs are just not making them this year. Oh well what can you do.

I agree V-necks are nowhere to be found. Even Eddie Bauer discontinued theirs this year — I didn’t love those tees but they seemed like the last bastion. What, what on earth, does the world have against V-neck tee shirts???

I always want patterned shirts. Can always find patterned short sleeve tees. With long sleeve, they are ALWAYS stripes! Nothing else….

The James Perse T looks really nice. Would you know about their sizing, I am between sizes, depending on the cut, would you go for the Medium (instead of the Small) as I am not narrow shouldered?

Uniqlo has great tees. Usually 95% cotton, 5% elastane. I’m short so I appreciate the length which hits just barely below my belt. I’m partial to the 3/4 sleeves when they’re available. The long-sleeved tee’s sleeves are about an inch too long for me. Can’t beat the price, too!

I could not find those jeans on Anthropolgie’s site. They are so great I’d lose weight to fit into them.

Click on Kim’s link to the first tee (where it says “this tee,” not the photo) and scroll down to the pictures under “Conplete the Look” and click the picture of the pants. Or click the link for the tee shirt (so Kim gets credit if you buy something) and search for “Hustler Cropped Flare” – three pictures result, including the floral pair.

BUT…..not that you asked, don’t buy clothing that is too small – ever. Wait and find something you love just as much – or more – that will fit so that you can wear it immediately!

Aaah! It’s those Mother paisley cropped flares again. I forgot how much I wanted them; they are so loud and happy-looking.

I love a good long sleeved tee and wear them almost year round. Everlane is a good choice (I have them in my size and a size larger for the comfort factor). But here’s my real find…when Kim had the blog post on bras the other day I went to the Negative site to order more since discovering them when Kim has posted them earlier during Covid. I have been in the market for some comfortable underwear that allows my va-jay-jay to breath and decided to check out what Negative has to offer. I am VERY picky about underwear. I like cotton. I like bikinis. I hate thongs. And I hate Granny Panties. Under Negative’s Boy Short selections were two options I thought I’d try––the actual boy short (very thin and fit under jeans beautifully––no bunching no bulk) and what they consider “briefs” and what I consider a “conservative bikini”––LOVE THEM. And I’m ordering more. So if you are in the need to cover not just the girls, but the territory below the navel I highly recommend Negative options. Thank you, Kim!!!

CW, Not sure if you’ll see this, but did you get the “Whipped” boy short or the “Cotton Mini?” Also, did you order your regular size?

I ordered the Cotton mini boy short AND the whipped Boy Short both in my normal size. Love them both. Both very lightweight––you literally don’t feel them on––there’s no “I need to tug down my underwear in back” feeling. I did hand-wash them both because they feel so delicate I was afraid my washer would ruin them. And they dry super fast. It’s the underwear you want to take on your European vacation when you are traveling with just a carry-on. Assuming we’ll ever be able to travel again much less go to Europe. Note to self––no need to go on and on and on and cut back on the strength of your coffee!!

Don’t for get Universal Standard’s V-Rex . It’s an absolutely great tee in fabric with a luscious hand.

Thanks – the price gives me pause but I’ll try a pair now and stock up before I hit Europe (someday!) if I like them. The need to hand wash also gives me pause but non-granny cotton underwear is really hard to find – I like Oddobody (which I now regret not hand washing) but my preferred silhouette is a boy short and they don’t make one. If this weren’t a public forum I’d ask you to send me a referral link so we’d both save $20. Oh well.

Damn it – my wardrobe thanks you but my wallet certainly does not! I may have just singlehandedly earned the James Perse tee a spot on this year’s “GCA Most Purchased” list. I also grabbed this one while I was “there”: https://www.nordstromrack.com/s/james-perse-long-raglan-sleeve-thermal-top/6469462?cm_mmc=email-_-011122-_-rack&utm_source=NR_Transactional&utm_medium=email&utm_channel=email_tran_ret_p&utm_campaign=RACK200ordcfm&utm_content=proddescr2
I am also giving the Z Supply a shot even though I have a feeling the side slit may be too high AND I bought the crazy pants shown with the Anthro tee. I debated them when you posted them a few months ago and they don’t seem quite so nuts at 40 percent off. Chances are they will go back, but stranger things have happened! Am imagining this in the near future: “No, Mr. Bank Rep, my credit card has not been compromised but my self control has.”

I feel you. After hitting my favorite store’s end of season sale (they truly only have 2 per year) I have declared January to be a no spend on clothing month. If I can make that stick through seeing the James Perse T’s it will be a miracle. They are my absolute favorites for layers and Lord knows, this is a Winter for layering.

I am going to try REALLY hard to make the rest of the winter “no spend on clothing.” I may have to stay away from this – and Andrea’s – blog to make that happen, though. Glad to hear a second for the Perse tees, I certainly ordered enough of them.
