Most of these are featherweight enough to be packable, which is a cool trick, and they’re all ideal for those transitional days when it’s 55 in the morning and then turns warm and sunny later, because they’re easy to shlep. This one from Old Navy comes in a few good colors but of course I’m attracted to this yellow.
Here’s another one that comes in a variety of hues. I also like the ever-so-slightly cropped fit.
Of course Uniqlo has a fantastic specimen: uber-light and perfect for layering.
This ladylike option from J. Crew adds a nice amount of polish to jeans and a tee.
And finally, here’s a reversible puffer that really looks like it could withstand the elements.
Another killer post! My two puffers are black and gray — boo. The reversible one is really intriguing, it’s giving me a Scandi feel, especially when reversed to that light blue. I’ve never heard of Summer Salt, is that a new brand?
May I suggest the nano puffs from Patagonia, which they’ll repair or replace, and purchases support work on climate change now that the founders donated all profits?
YOU GUYS. It’s true that Patagonia’s owner, Chouinard, is a longtime environmentalist, but let’s keep in mind that he structured the “giveaway” of his company (the family still remains on the board and effectively controls the company) to completely avoid capital gains (which would have been 700 million on a 3 billion dollar sale) and an estate and gift tax (which on fortunes of this size hit some 40%) . We can expect to see more of these “giveaways” to support various causes since they rally help out the super rich.
Agree these are great, and the latest news about the founder giving the company away makes me feel really loyal to the brand.
Great minds, etc. I was going to ask for a Patagonia post if for no other reason than to celebrate the former owner for his dedication to helping the planet. I have one of the nano puffers and wear it constantly when the weather dips. Patagonia is a pricer brand, but I have a Patagonia fleece vest that I’ve had for over twenty years.
Yes, and they also have a resale site on their website.
Yes!!
Here in Colorado, it’s all Patagonia Nano Puff, or Thermoball all the time! The perfect warmth for most days and activities. So light it’s like not wearing a jacket. Tons of great colors, super packable.
On top of all of that, the 80 something founder, and his family just donated the whole company to combat climate change.
It’s a win-win!
The summersault one is really cute. The photos make it a bit unclear what the weight is—it is staged as what you’d wear for sledding (typically you need something super warm!) but the jacket itself looks lighter weight than that. I don’t live in sledding country though, and light weight would work for me. I have one of the Uniqlo ones and can attest to how great they are, worn as liners or by themselves. I also have a warmer Patagonia puffer (for actual sledding, ha) and agree with others here it’s a great brand and worth highlighting! Fun post- thanks!
