This slightly-longer-than-usual liner jacket comes in a few good neutral solids, but I’m digging the camo.
I already own this Clare V woven bag in black, so I shall not be purchasing it in this excellent blue, but if I had it to do over I’d totally pick this one.
A cute funnel neck coat that rings in just under $150.
This floral-print puffer is slightly nuts, but I also think it’s pretty adorable.
Just a simple tunic that’d be a perfect base layer.
I’ve been looking for a pair of grey jeans forever, but nobody gets the wash the way I want it. These come pretty close, though.
I’m trying to wear more colors lately, and boy do I love the mix of them on this leopard print sweater.
Relatedly, I like that the pattern on this cashmere sweater looks like an animal print at first, but then you see it’s really a (very pretty) floral.
I have been craving a quilt jacket lately, and this pretty splurgy one is just so good.
And finally: if these Tevas aren’t the perfect winter walking-the-dog-shoes, then I don’t know what are.
Listened to the newest EIF podcast this morning and have many comments I’d like to make, but will hold it down to one comment on wigs. Several years ago a friend of mine was going through treatment for breast cancer. Because of chemo she lost all of her hair. She tried desperately to find a “good” wig to wear, but all she tried either looked horrid or were uncomfortable to wear. Her daughter shows up one day and says “get in the car” then takes her mom to the East side of Austin and pulls up in front of a store. My friend described it as a “stripper” store. Lots of questionable undergarments in the window with thigh high patent leather boots. She a) questioned how her daughter knew about this store and b) was not sure she wanted to go into the store. Go in she did and there across one wall of the store were tons of wigs on display. Stripper wigs. All fake hair and all AWESOME. She found two wigs that she liked, bought them both wearing one home and when she walked in the door her husband took one look at her and said, “You are so hot!” The best news is she did recover from cancer and when her hair grew back she was going to get rid of her wigs, but her husband stopped her and said, “can’t you keep this one?” It was long red hair and she looked like a rock star when she wore it. She kept the wig. For some reason (and I do mean this as a compliment) I can see Jenn going into a stripper store and trying on wigs. And when she does I hope Kim accompanies her and they talk about their adventure on the podcast.
Love this. There’s something fabulous about an unapologetically fake wig. The only thing is that they are probably pretty hot, I mean literally hot. Expensive well-made wigs are ventilated in both senses of the word: made so air gets through, and ventilated is also the term for how they make the front hairline part of the wig. I’ve watched wig artists do it; it’s a very painstaking process of threading in individual hairs along the hairline so it looks and feels quite natural. I’ve worn both kinds of wigs and you can almost forget you’re wearing the ventilated kind.
I’m dressing up as Ms. Frizzle for Halloween (it’s a “kid’s librarian” thing) – I think I should borrow her red stripper wig. 😉
I also love this. Helen Mirren has said she buys a lot of her red carpet shoes at “stripper shops.”
I bought that Clare V bag in the smooth leather in Loden. I’m not in love with it as the color of the straps is reads differently than the bag due to the use of a different kind of leather. I’m debating on whether or not to keep it.
SJP always seems to wear the best gray jeans. I wonder which brand they are?
Color! Prints! Grey jeans! Ready for fall.
I have those Tevas and they are the best!!
I have those Tevas! My husband and I each got a pair when the season began to turn during our 4 month road trip. They are cozy; you can step on the heel or slip into them. They are great for home and camp. They are terrible for longer walking! I am a person who usually scoffs at the idea of arch support and these shoes made me understand why people want arch support. Horrible for walking! I got the OD green ones; my husband got the yellow and they are 10x hotter.
Wow! I love love love that floral puffer. I have a much cheaper Liberty print-style puffer I got from Land’s End several years ago that I adore and I’m dreading the day it finally disintegrates. Digging that Clare V. bag, too, but I have found that the weight of my purse contents is too much on the strap loops. I had one purse repaired twice and the strap still pulled through them. Now it’s just a clutch. I wish they were just a little more durable!
I am also in a mood lately for brighter colors and prints – including animal prints! – soon, I hope to perhaps actually wear some.
That camel funnel back is adorable. Do you like the black also?
Because I am tempered by both…
