Things I bought, things I want

13

I finally, finally pulled the trigger on these Paris pants from Nili Lotan, in the world’s most perfect dark khahi, after  stalking them for months. They’re a little lightweight to wear right now, but I know they’ll be going into maximum rotation soon enough.

These black jeans cost more than what I’ve been spending on denim lately, but I’m really tempted because they seem so perfect. The wash is not too pitch-black, which is just how I like my black washes, and I dig the boyfriend-ish shape too.

Just a cute button-front denim skirt in a subtly sexy shape, from Madewell.

The shape of this sweatshirt jacket reminds me of pricier pieces from Maria Cornejo.

I’m going to Florida in April and am feeling tempted to pick up a new dress or two for the trip. This happy floral looks like the easiest thing to throw on and immediately look fantastic. And if it’s not structured enough for you, I’m pretty sure it’d look maybe even more fantastic belted.

You know I can’t pass up a cute hippie girl top, especially not in mustard yellow.

And speaking of yellow, the shape and hue of this gauze henley dress are right up my alley.

The shape of this striped top is just about perfect, and it comes in a few other colorways too.

The sleeves are a nice, feminine touch on this khaki shirtdress.

Have I found the perfect flowy V-neck tee? I kind of think I have.

This blazer isn’t exactly cheap, and it’s double-breasted, which isn’t typically my thing, but I think it’s just sharp as can be.

And finally, a knit blazer from Kule that’s ideal for adding a touch of polish to jeans and a tee.

Today may end up being an expensive day to be a GoaCA. Giving the sweatshirt jacket and army green version of the Sundry henley dress (via Shopbop) a try. I feel like if they fit without frump they will get tons of wear (not together, though).

Oooooh that Kule blazer!!!! I’m a little hesitant to order my usual size M, as that is the size the models are wearing on the pictures and I don’t have a typical model’s proportions.

And….the floral dress comes in beach(ish) pants which look like they’d make the perfect swimsuit coverup – I feel a splurge in my future!

Somebody please go try on the COS dress and report in. Some of the oversized stuff hangs really well and some of it decidedly does not. I live where on-line is the only option for COS and I’m tired of ordering and sending back.

That gauze dress would be on it’s way to me if it were in any other color. I am super tempted by the Redone black jeans––from reading the details it sounds like I might want to size up––does anyone have any recs on sizing with this brand? And the Kule knit blazer may have to have a home with me. It’s kinda perfect. Side note: We’re in the midst of SXSW here in Austin and on the fashion front shackets are everywhere as is every permutation of Doc Martins. And what goes in-between the shacket and the Docs covers every imaginable item of clothing from chinos to distressed jeans to flowy dresses. Having “South-by” happening again makes the world feel just a tiny bit more normal––even with a governor like Abbott and even with the hideous hateful aggression of Russia even with Covid still lingering.

I’d have grabbed a non-yellow version of the gauze dress, too.

The sweatshirt jacket appeals – especially with Madewell’s current 20 % off promo – but I wonder if it will look frumpy on a short person (aka, me).

The Frump Factor is huge when you are small. However, I think the sweatshirt jacket would work fine because it doesn’t appear to be too lengthy. It’s kimono like, right? So if you throw it over jeans and tee or a sundress or even a tank top and shorts it isn’t going to be too overwhelming. At least that’s what I’m imagining.

Where in Florida? I love the dress but being a native Miamian I know how my people look:)

Woo hoo! Some really great choices today, Kim. I’ve decided I have to have a pair of the Nili Lotan Paris pants. I’m having fun with dressing again and these are FUN. I am almost always on-board with your choices, but I had almost a visceral reaction to the floral house dress. I think it’s because my mother-in-law used to wear them around the house Every. Damned. Day. She wasn’t the kindest person to me, so I guess that has something to do with it. Now, you’ll have to excuse me while I go call my therapist.
