These sandals have some secrets

…and that is that they are actually super well-priced, and seriously, unreasonably comfy. I’m  just back from Los Angeles, and I wore them practically everywhere. They provided the height I crave with absolutely none of the pain, and you can’t beat that.

So pretty, but I felt my ankle twist just looking at them. No amount of yoga or balance practice will make me safe for myself in platforms. Or heels at this point.

I agree, Jenny. At age 60, I find it’s just not worth the cost/benefit ratio to chance them.

Was just coming here to say that. I can never wear platforms again, now that I am of a certain age and have always had weak ankles.

So I had a thought about some of our comments from the previous podcast post. It seems to me that, among other things, some of us were having a miscommunication about what mode we were in. I often get in trouble like this with a certain good friend, who complains quite a bit about her job – like, a loooot – (which job she actually loves for the most part). I try to problem solve and it annoys the hooey out of her. She just wants me to listen. I don’t think either of us is wrong – we just need to be on the same page about what the goal is. … … … Which is to my mind a little bit related to last week bc one instinct many of us have is, if we hear from someone who is upset about something – say, fe, the behavior of certain guys – we kind of want to cheer them up by pointing out ways in which things aren’t so hopeless, or ways in which to avoid said situations, etc etc. Or ways in which we women too can be awful sometimes. Or, we may see something we don’t agree with, and say so. Now of course, either of these may be super annoying. At any rate, again to me it seems one issue is, what mode are we in? … … … I will always respect somebody’s right to just vent. But please let me know in advance, so I don’t try to say anything “helpful.” (such things often being anything but …) Same with the whole “safe space” approach. That isn’t my default, but I can do it when it’s important to other people. Just my really long two cents.

I’m noticing in the Zappos customer reviews for this shoe that many reviewers are suggesting to size up. Did you size up Kim?

I just received them and I am going to try 1/2 size up. Having said that, they are incredibly cushy and comfy and the platform feels sturdy to me. I have no problem walking in them and I am 62 and very clumsy.

Ordered in the sand color! Thanks for the recommendation, and I do hope you enjoyed your stay. Since I am just now beginning to get out & about, do you have any restaurant recommendations?

They are gorgeous, and I love Clark’s, but wish they offered a 2 inch heel. Can’t do 3 inches anymore! Not sure I ever could, with grace, actually.
