Summer classics: the canvas tote

9

Let’s start off with a classic: L.L. Bean’s Boat and Tote, which is nicely priced and comes in a variety of colors, and a very spiff camo print. You can specify strap length too.

I like that this bag has so much in the way of exterior pockets.

The shape of this Cuyana tote is cool, and the grey is nicely sophisticated.

Baggu’s Duck Bag is so sportif and summery with the stripes, and you could likely fit a weekend’s worth of stuff in it.

This has an Army-Navy vibe that I dig, and a practical top zipper.

And of course I had to include this snappy blue and black tote from the brand Saturdays. It’s meant to be a man’s bag, but I see no reason why we ladies can’t co-opt it.

A delightfully minimal choice from Banana Republic.

I like the outdoorsy brand Fjallraven a lot—their stuff makes me really wish I was more of an outdoorsy type—and this tote from them is water-resistant, which is a plus.

I almost didn’t include this option from Rag & Bone, because so much of it is suede, but it’s so excellently chic—and so marked down at the moment—that I had to.

I’ll admit it: I like this Carhartt bag just because of the Carhartt logo. I’ll bet it’s also indestructible.

J. Crew’s tote is nice and spacious and pretty timeless.

I am a big fan of the long vertical shape of this crossbody bag from L.L. Bean.

Nice! I’ve been eyeing the Baggu duck one for a while. I one from Carhartt also appeals.

Yes, it’s way off topic but….https://www.nililotan.com/collections/sale?source=pepperjam&publisherId=73861&clickId=2714055754&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=pj_gen

Unfortunately, it’s all final sale and I’ve never trusted myself to try any of it on.

Well … what is it you’d like my opinion on? (kidding!)

Many items look cute but I checked the size guide and was instantly confused, bc the top chart does not seem to have much relation to the following ones, so why is it there? But, I am not their target demo, I’m sure.

The lower charts use actual inches … which is *wonderful.* (Why can’t all of them do that? What is so hard about it?)

Which is too bad. Who doesn’t need velvet pants???

If there is something you love and you can swing it, why not get it and re-sell it to someone here if it doesn’t fit? Decent chance you’d find a taker.

        Apparently I wasn’t done.

The first chart, I’m not even on. The second one, I *might* be a M. The third chart, I am not on. (Though, I should think with knit, there would be some stretch.)

Oh well. Still, some of it looks fun.

You are a delight. My size 16 Lee jeans thanks you.

I know, so nerve-wracking, ordering final sale stuff! I just received a pair of hugely marked-down Moussy Vintage jeans and they’re absolutely hideous on me. They are not final sale – thank God!

The sun is making a rare appearance here in Iowa today & these superbly spiff totes go perfectly with my hopes that the sun will stick around for awhile. I have a Lands End tote very similar to the LL Bean. It is about 30 years old and I love that it can take a real beating and maintain its style – it’s also washable which is a real plus. Carhartt is big here, never knew they had such a nice tote.

I want ALL of these!!!! Normally I’m not a fan of bags that have handles AND shoulder straps, but these are all sooooo fetching and summery. Even the Rag and Bone with the suede does not deter me from The Wants. Oy and Egad.

These are great. I would throw a shout out to Clare V and her Every Mother Counts oversized tote. While not as structured it’s spacious and proceeds go to a great cause.
