These are so perfect for summer: lightweight (usually), breezy and casual. I like wearing them with jeans or chinos, but if you’ve got other ideas for them, then you do you. This first one comes from Doen, a boho-chic-ish label that people love, and it comes in a whole lot of colorways and prints, though I’m partial to this creamy white.
A sweet embroidered top that reminds me of ones Nili Lotan has offered for a lot more cash.
This gauze top comes in black too, but this seafoam green is calling out to me.
A lot of fun details on this one.
I dig the shirring and band collar here.
A rare short-sleeved option in a fun, bright floral.
Tonal white stripes and feminine details make this blouse standout.
And finally: a subdued but versatile option.
The Karen Kane print top is beautiful but warning size down twice! It’s much more oversized than it appears.
Kim, you’re hitting me at one of my weak spots — not every peasant blouse, but many smocked yoke poet blouses, esp. ones in gauzy material that don’t have sleeves that are too balloon-y/billow-y. Why do they feel sexy/rockstar to me, esp. paired with jeans and a pair of good Chelsea/combat/western boots? Wear them on date nights and to an indie music show. Also love the higher smocked/funnel neck for winter. Peasant blouses and pirate shirts (hello Seinfeld) less so. Also blouses with pintucked fronts and big sleeves — great for work.
That white Madewell pintuck blouse is pretty much perfection — I have a black blouse that is very close to that same design. Like the bits of eyelet and bib front — a bit of structure.
I just ordered a short sleeved one from Old Navy that I saw someone wearing, and I asked her where she got it. I think it looks like a vintage Etsy find!
Mamavalveeta, I think we’re about the same age, and I recall that you recently started a new job and I’m wondering what you wear? I am re-entering the workforce after a 7-year absence, and can’t believe how hard it is to find professional clothing. I don’t know your situation, and maybe you don’t have to dress up for what you do, but I thought I’d ask. Maybe other GOACAs can chime in. Kim, this would be a good topic for future posts. Thanks all.
