Sadly, this is the last entry in my series—in recent years, two of the other discounters I liked—Neiman Marcus Last Call and Barneys Warehouse—have circled the drain. But there is plenty to love at this Saks Fifth Avenue offshoot, starting with a cute velour track jacket from Nili Lotan.
This sandal is described as a kitten heel, but I feel like it’s slightly higher than that, but still potentially walkable.
An easy tee dress for throwing on whenever, all summer long. In the fall, I’d wear it with tights and boots.
A flattering asymmetrical wrap skirt from Vince.
I like the tonal stripes on this crisp button-down.
Such a cute little quilted jacket from Barbour, which rarely gets discounted.
I dig the colors and slightly wild pattern on this silk blouse.
A pretty cotton dress that’s feminine without being prissy.
A cozy-looking waffle knit hoodie that’d be perfect for cool nights.
This quarter-zip sweater reminds me of a much more expensive one I really wanted from Nili Lotan.
And this cashmere number has such a nice, deep V-neck.
True, this leopard print tee in bold pink and black is kind of loud, but it would be so excellently new wave work under a snappy blazer.
And finally, a lot of you have gone for Rag & Bone’s excellent Slade Blazer, and I think it’s kind of cool and unexpected in this windowpane check.
That green patterned Derek Lam dress, chef’s kiss!
My most recent online purchases were plundered by porch bandits. I feel doubly wronged: the USPS delivered them to the wrong address, and the miscreant(s) opened the boxes and appropriated the contents there, and the next day someone put the empties on my porch. Anyway, do folks have recommendations for safer package delivery? Package tracking doesn’t work if USPS makes a mistake, and UPS sometimes hands off to USPS for last-mile service. One obvious answer: shop IRL, not online, but DC lacks really good independent retail — although I’d love for other DC readers to prove me wrong.
Wow, that’s a bummer – I hope you get a refund and are able to replace the items. How disappointing.
I’m so sorry this happened to you! It really sucks. I’m not sure if this is an option for all online retailers, but you can receive UPS shipments at a UPS store if there is one near you; my guess is that you can do the same at FedEx. Sure it’s not always as convenient, but you will get your packages.
Maybe there is a “hold at the PO option”? It’s a pain, but not as much as having to replace things and file reports.
I think if you make your address just the name of the PO (like:
Bo Peep
Baltimore, MD 21228)
they will hold it. I think it’s called general delivery? I don’t know how long they will hold it, though, so you might need to check in every day around delivery time if there’s no tracking info.
Also, my nephew lived in a townhouse in the city, and the nearby grocery store had lockers that Amazon would deliver to.
Need that Kris cotton dress. Fits my coloring perfectly and of course, that’s my name. On the waitlist for my size
Neiman’s Last Call was the very BEST until a couple of years ago. There are some excellent suggestions here from Off 5th! I love that Barbour jacket. And, surprising myself, I also love the pink leopard print tee. Fun series of postings!
