Something you might not know about me that is kind of gross is that my dog Sammy is incontinent. He wears a diaper whenever he’s indoors, but the diapers are not infallible, and for that reason I always have on shoes when I’m home. But I don’t want to wear the ones I’ve been shlepping all over the neighborhood in—especially now—so I thought it might be fun to look for slippers and other footwear that is suitable for indoor wear. I’ll start with the pair I thought were the chicest: these oiled leather moc clogs from Jenni Kayne.
I owned a pair of Haflinger wool clogs back in the day—they’re a classic among the prep school set—and so I can tell you first-hand that they are desperately comfortable.
I’m betting these Allbirds flats are pretty comfy too; they seem like a good option for the plane too, if any of us ever get back on one on those.
These slides are just kind of fun, with contrasting prints and textures.
I wrote about these Birkenstock clogs over the winter: I bought them and wore them to death. Right now they’re marked down at Shopbop, and while they’re not available in ever size anymore, maybe you’ll get lucky.
These mule/clogs are from Denmark (I dig the little flag) and I like how understated they are.
These just look like they’d be easy to slip on, and I like the gray.
These loafers are from M. Gemi—a brand I know some of you swear by—and I think they’re pretty sharp.
I like the slight platform on this slipper—yes, I crave height even when I’m home alone.
A pair of classic Minnetonkas are cool in a 70s-ish way.
These might be a little too warm for the weather we’ve been having, but they sure are cute.
