Jogger pants are all I feel like wearing right now

33

These trousers—which usually have elastic at the waist or ankle, and often both—are pretty perfect for life the way it’s being lived right now by most of us. Which is to say: they’re comfy and lounge-y, while still being pretty presentable. I like this pair because it’s got a nice high waist and polished-looking waist-tie.

These are from Frame denim, and they’ve got a trouser-y cut I really like.

This utilitarian pair comes in about a zillion colors, but I dig this punchy pink. It also looks really deeply comfortable.

These silk pants look nicely sophisticated. I’d wear them with a silk blouse.

I do love a side stripe, and I also really love blue and black color combinations, and this pair has both of those things: aces.

I like the slightly cropped cuff here, and the fact that these are a really inky-dark black.

These are from Universal Standard, which means they come in every size conceivable. I own them, and have to say they’re so nicely tailored that you could get away with wearing them to the office—if any of us ever goes to the office again.

These are linen, and very well-priced.

I think the embroidery here is sweet and kind of fun.

This stretch satin pair is cool in a luxe way, and I like the pretty deep pockets; here’s something similar but cheaper.

This pair has cargo pant styling and a nice slouchy fit.

I like that this faux leather pair is on the roomier side—the better to maneuver around in.

These have trouser pocket styling—front and back—that adds some polish.

These win the contest for being as comfy as sweats while looking way more put-together than them.

A fun subtly tie-dyed pair that I’d wear with a big old black cashmere sweater.

Has anyone ever tried the pull-on pants from Marine Layer? They are a bit cropped and slim fitting.

Liking the Paige, Frame, and Monroe. Question for those who own Paige pants, in my experience, their denim pants are what we used to call “crotch grabbers.” I can’t see that happening with a knit. But does anyone else have that problem w/ Paige or do I just have a long-crotch 🙂 ?

I walk right past anything Paige. They NEVER fit me. Always weird in the hip/crotch/stride area. I thought it was just me!

It’s not just you, cw. It frustrates me because Paige has super cute designs!

Really great post – I like many, but am drooling over the Paige. Most likely a bit too pricey for glorified SWEATPANTS (there, I said it) but am thinking about it….

Really nice picks! I’m liking the Paige and Frame .

I’m so into jeans and rarely reach for anything else, even now, but I’ve been noticing my jean picks are getting slouchier and looser by the day.

Yes! Since this pandemic/crisis started, i keep reaching for my boyfriend style, and bought a new, even more boyfriendy pair a couple of weeks ago.

Love the pants, perplexed by the summer footwear. Wish they showed more of these with boots. Fall comfort, to me, means socks.

I’m perplexed by the linen pair – are we wearing linen in the Fall and Winter?

Not everyone who reads this blog lives in the US. Here in Australia we’re gearing up for summer and although we may not have access to those particular linen pants, they provide inspiration and a starting point for those of us who are thinking of adding a pair to our wardrobe. I read this blog not so much for the actual pieces I can buy, but for the inspiration and ideas that I can then follow up in Australia.

I love that we all use the English version of sweatpants because “joggers” sounds so much more dressed than “sweatpants.” My guess is we will all be “sheltering in place” over winter so why not have a closet full of clothes that help you feel good? I’m leaning toward Frame and Eileen Fisher (as I was closet cleaning not too long ago I realized a pair of black pants I’ve practically worn to death are Eileen Fisher and I purchased them in 2007––talk about a brand that lasts!) and I was leaning toward the pink Anthro until I read the reviews about the crotch. Humm…..

I would love to get some recs for especially soft/comfy joggers. No “hard pants,” please.

Try outdoor voices’ cozy jogger or Vuoriclothing.com. In Canada the place to buy sweatpants is Aritizia or Roots. I live in the cozy fleece skinny.

My covid-metamorphosis may be complete. I have gone from feeling uncomfortable in anything but a suit (dress + jacket on casual Fridays) to these https://www.sweatybetty.com/us/shop/bottoms/pants/gary-yoga-pants-SB4620_Black.html in blue. They are on the athletic side of leisurewear but are soft, comfortable and maintain their structure. I’ve washed them weekly since July and they aren’t showing any wear.

What’s the difference between “joggers” and “sweatpants?” (Serious question.)

It’s a fair question, Eloise: I think of joggers as “hard,” while sweatpants are “soft.”

Interesting. I don’t know much about clothing design but I would define “Hard pants” as
-Having a button and/or zip fly
-The waistband is un stretchy (I don’t know the tech term)
The material doesn’t have much “give”

I’m so all about joggers and have been for the past 5 years at least. I dig tailored sweatshirts and pair them with stylized joggers and booties and literally I am wearing sweats to work at least 3 days a week (pre-Covid) and no one realized it!

I’m really drawn to the IDEA of the faux leather joggers worn with a cozy cashmere sweater, but I’m really conflicted. I know I’m supposed to be a confident woman, secure in my body and my age, not giving 2 f’s about what other people think…but, I’m a large woman and leather/faux leather pants say “look at me,” right?…and I’m not sure I’m totally comfortable with that idea. You guys should just ignore me. I’m probably just being a Covidiot.

I have stayed away from faux/real leather joggers because I thought i was too old, then I saw a woman in my condo building in Austin wearing them and she was clearly older than me and she looked FABULOUS. Ergo, probably all in your head, BUT if you try on a pair and don’t feel comfortable then toss them aside. These days I want everything I put on my body to feel great and not “maybe if I wear different shoes…or maybe with a different top…” so over that hesitation.
