It’s (almost) the most cardigan time of the year

18

This poppy, fun stripey number is the type of piece that instantly makes any outfit cool.

There are so many good cardigans at Vince, but I’m only showing you a couple of them here cause they’re not especially cheap. I particularly like this one because the proportions are right on the money, and so is the mustardy-brown hue. Here’s a similar and cheaper version.

And here’s another brown sweater (suddenly I guess I like brown after all) that looks satisfyingly chunky.

This nicely drapey sweater definitely looks like it could have come from Maria Cornejo.

This looks like a cool thrift store score, but with a modern cut.

An ever-so-slightly oversized cashmere boyfriend sweater that feels very casual luxe to me.

A zipper cardigan is so sportif.

Just a good, well-priced everyday sweater with appealing patch pockets.

This chunky plaid specimen would look great with a thin hoodie layered under it.

I love how dark the leopard print is here.

OK, this capelet might be stretching the category a bit, but it’s a sweater and it’s open in the front so I’m allowing it. Plus it’s got that adorable hood.

A really sophisticated-looking  wrap cardi for wearing with anything from pencil skirts to jeans.

Long cardigans are a really big trend right now, but it’s a trend I do not entirely endorse—I think they can look bulky and as though you’re wearing a blanket. I do think this one is really nicely cut, though, which makes all the difference.

Here’s a good cropped one for pairing with dresses.

And finally, I had to include this Uniqlo crewneck cardigan, because it’s just under $40, comes in a number of neutral-ish colors, and is a fantastic layering piece.

Love the striped crop from The Great. Such an ace colour combination.

The black fun-plaid Equipment sweater is amazing! I’ve been buying Vince men’s sweaters in small since the oversize thing is still cool. They feel more luscious somehow.

Who makes those boots in the capelet photo? They are nifty.

I like the cropped ones and the wrap one, but the colors aren’t calling me.

This is so weird because I did look at the boots in the photo on the Anthro page and the boots in the photo are different than the “shop this look” boots they promote! hummmm….. Anyways, doesn’t really matter as both boots are pretty fabulous!

Vince IS pricey, but will last for years. Worth the investment for sure.

I have had good luck finding Vince at a discount at Nordstrom Rack. I have a few cashmere sweaters from them that I trot out every winter.

I also agree! I have a few of their pullovers and have worn them to death.

Dittoing everyone. Every Vince piece I own (sweater or not) has worn and worn and worn.

Hmmm, I must be the only one who finds Vince knitwear pills like crazy.

I love a good cardigan! There are several here I feel I NEED (Vince & Madewell are priorities). Since I’m at the tail end of my east coast stay I’m not ordering anything at the moment. What I am doing is photographing the web sites so I can “remember” them when I get home. Fastest summer EVER (sigh).

I love a good long cardi. I wear them the way others wear bathrobes sometimes. But I also wear them with dresses in monochromatic column of color. I found some at Nordstrom that were very thin and not at all bulky.

I love love LOVE sweater weather! And nothing pulls an outfit together faster than a great cardigan. I spotted the plaid Equipment cardi while I was checking out one of your Shopbop picks and thought, “Oh, cute!” and lo & behold, I scroll down and there it is! As a tall GOACA, I’m a huge fan of long cardis, maybe not out and about once coat weather hits (it’s tough to pair them with the right length coat), but on their own, yes.

The Equipment plaid cardigan is better, but I had my eye on this more reasonably priced version last spring already:
