In the mood for half-zip sweaters, jackets, and sweatshirts

16

I just love the look of these: they’re a bit preppy and a bit menswearish, and ideal for this time of year. This ribbed sweater comes in a number of colors, but I’m kind of infatuated with this blue, and it’s marked down too.

A boucle number that could easily be dressed up or down, I think.

A packable option from Old Navy in bright safety orange.

This just looks insanely cozy, and I kind of like the brown too, and I almost never like brown clothes.

A quilted jacket with all-important butt coverage.

I like the faux-leather details here.

This ribbed sweater is so good in camel, a color I can not wear but desperately wish I could.

This has a certain track jacket vibe that appeals.

I dig the patch pockets on this sweater.

This is a sweater that comes off like a jacket, and would be aces for layering.

I like the contrasting hues here.

A luxe cashmere sweater that looks just like one I paid a lot more for from Nili Lotan.

The space dye effect here makes this look like it could be Missoni.

We don’t have much use for a windbreaker right now on the east coast, but this would be great come spring.

A perfectly French-looking striped sweater.

And finally, this quilted jacket, which looks warm but not overly bulky.

So many cute options but I literally just said to myself “no more!”. I definitely have way too much stuff even though I purge fairly often. I’m aware that it’s a terrible habit. I got sucked into holiday shopping and some post Christmas sales, but I need to reign myself in…for my wallet and the planet. I really wish I didn’t find so many things “cute” 🙁

My kingdom for a full-zip black hoodie with black strings that is not huge and boxy, or made for a long torso…

I’m not sure if this is the look you are going for, but I find that outdoor sport clothing has a more streamlined design since it is designed to be worn under jackets. I have a past year’s version of this and love it (its wool) https://ca.monsroyale.com/products/ascend-full-zip-hood-black-womens-fw21

i love a half zip. it’s great for layering but also showing a bit of skin. and when you get cold, just zip up to a turtleneck. love that first blue one, but everlane still doesn’t like bigger ladies in their clothes quite yet. I could wear the XL but it wouldn’t be slouchy the way i like. and i’m done feeling bad for not being thin.

I just bought a second quarter-zip sweatshirt on sale from Net a Porter and already had a fantastic one from Alex Mill on sale. Loving this trend a bit too much already but really liking that collar detail for my video calls.

I’ve almost pulled the trigger on some version of that La Ligne sweater, esp. when on sale at Nordstrom, but the reviews usually say it’s way too short/cropped. Also circled that same BR sweater last week — specifically the gray and white, but reviews say the double-knit collar is too heavily constructed. I’d pick up that TopShop green and blue number in 2 shakes of a lamb’s tail, but I’m also trying to stay away from acrylic yarn (reminder — made from coal and petroleum and so so bad for the environment).

I have the Everlane sweater in the oatmeal color and love it. Just need the weather to get cold again so I can wear it more – L.A. problems…..

I just got the Old Navy bright orange specimen in the mail and it’s really cute. It runs a bit large, so I was able to size down. It’s very lightweight and ithink it’s going to be great for Spring hikes.

Love these. I have a similar packable option from Madewell that you recommended. I like that I can layer underneath.

Yay, I scored that windbreaker before it sold out in my size! That’s a nice price for something sporty-subtle, my style every day.

I am trying not to buy any more clothing until at least the spring but stellar posts like this make it very hard – the track jacket-esque one would have made it at least into my cart if it didn’t have writing on the back.

I’m also glad to hear that I’m not the only one who can’t wear camel.

I look horrid in camel. It’s sad since it’s supposed to be a good classic neutral. Really started paying a lot more attention to how colors look on me. I knew greens, esp deep ones, look good on me, but I used to think all neutrals work, but they don’t. For example, a lighter gray (and esp grays with some pink to them) doesn’t work, but medium to dark grays (with or without blue mixed in) work great. And warmer whites and creams are great, but not cold whites (w lots of blue or gray in it).
