Catbird primarily sells jewelry, and their Williamsburg, Brooklyn store is always too mobbed to even contemplate entering when I’m in the neighborhood. But I do like puttering around their website, and in so doing recently, discovered all sorts of other cool stuff they’ve got on offer, like this incense kitty from covetable French brand Astier de Villatte. I am also quite fond of this clever Marie Antoinette incense burner, also by Astier.
And I love how pleasingly old-school this John Derian paperweight—and the whole idea of a paperweight in general—is.
Who doesn’t kind of need a roll of gold foil tape made of copper for wrapping special gifts, hanging stuff on the wall, and etc?
This plate is a little sweeter than my taste typically runs, but I really dig it.
I could use a smallish pocket mirror for lipstick spot checks and the like, and I think the heart here looks so cool and hand-drawn.
And, OK, why not, I’ll throw in a few pieces of jewelry too, just for kicks: I like white diamonds all right, but I like black ones better because they feel less precious to me, and are cheaper. This necklace is graceful and just the tiniest bit goth.
I would love to add this gold ring to my stack.
And finally, I’m pretty certain I’ve shown you this snake ring before, but it’s so good—really simple and elegant—that I’m doing it again, so there you go.
That copper foil tape is used in soldering and other projects and can be found on Amazon for a fraction of the cost … just sayin’ … https://www.amazon.com/Conductive-Double-Sided-Shielding-Repellent-Electrical/dp/B07LF73XV4/ref=sr_1_21?crid=3HALMBY7OSMHY&keywords=copper+foil+tape&qid=1553818304&s=gateway&sprefix=copper+foi%2Caps%2C145&sr=8-21
Aw, we love this post, thank you! I used to pore over your Lucky editor letters! xo Leigh from Catbird
Love Catbird, and they have wonderful customer service. My Rainbow Stardust ring broke and they were great about it, repaired it quickly and at no charge.
I’ve had my eye on that rainbow stardust ring for a while! What part broke? Did it lose stones? Does it seem particularly vulnerable to problems?
And I agree that they’re great. They’ve untangled my necklace for me when I just couldn’t do it.
It may be. I actually had to send it back twice. First time a stone fell out, and 3 months after I got it. Then 4 months later the band snapped. Both times they repaired it promptly, and no problems since.
I did a quick browse of the Astier de Villatte offerings on Catbird and noticed that they do scented erasers. However, they are grownup versions of scented erasers, scented like Mediterranean herbs or sandalwood. I think I’m biased towards them because their appearance reminds me of my favorite eraser, Staedtler. In the interest of fiscal restraint, I think I will have to be very careful when I visit that website. (I already kinda knew this because of the John Derian stuff. Anybody that stocks John Derian stuff knows how to compel money from me.)
My friend gave me that little heart mirror one year. I just adore that gift for my makeup bag.
Oh dear. Please don’t with the head.
Sorry but you know I am no Yes Man.
I have no objection to the cat.
I have a couple pieces of jewelry from them and I love it!
I have both incense burners and they are my prized possessions. Especially the cat. Had not realized the tiny head one was Marie Antoinette! Good to know.
Love Catbird. Love that necklace. I’d love to add it to my jewelry drawer, but for now I’m content wearing this one.

Oh my that’s lovely. Do you wear it all the time or just special occasions? I’d just keep it on, wondering if it withstands day to day wear. Cheers
yup! I want every single thing here (ok, not the last ring. I”m not a snake person). The description of that rainbow in the clouds plate is so good-
So many little tropes in one little tray, to cradle all your bitty bits and bobs!
Love that you featured Catbird! I went to school with Rony – she was always the coolest girl. The above the knuckle rings she wore are now her bread and butter, looks like. I’d love to see more from local style makers and especially women owned businesses. Thanks, Kim!
