A lovely reader named Mimi alerted me to the H&M/William Morris collaboration (Morris was a British textile designer who created, among other things, the fabulous Strawberry Thief pattern now produced by Liberty of London). I like the women’s pieces well enough, but the real gems of the collection are the men’s button-downs (but of course I would think that).
Thanks for the tip! Got two of the men’s shirts for my husband.
I love me some William Morris, but that collection is a bit all over the place.
Thanks, Mimi and Kim! This is more fun than finishing my ballot.
The colors are a little, um, subdued. I think I am post-sophisticate. Although I may be pre-, or just non-.
I am wearing a t-shirt and sweatshirt from this collab as I read this. I was disappointed that almost all the items were polyester, but I spose that is a symptom of fast fashion. I didn’t know there were men’s items.
I ordered two of the men’s printed shirts, which are a Tencel lyocell blend that I’m hoping feels like a nice viscose. I’ve been wanting a pink striped shirt to wear under some fair isle wool vests and v-necks. I’m thinking of going full out wacky English country style and treating the subtle pink print Kim showed as if it were a solid. Tbd if that will work. BTW, there were some dresses in the collab that sold out but they can be found on eBay, still for not much $$.
The men’s t’s are pretty nifty, too. With the women’s clothes, I think I would feel like I was wearing the wallpaper.
I just saw them today! The fabric of the men’s shirts are a little heavier than ideal.
I ordered a shirt for my husband – part of my quest to constantly dress him like James May – and was considering the green print smocked sleeve blouse for myself. But thinking I would want to alter the neckline anyway, I might as well get the green print dress instead, because I could belt it or hem it in to a shirt if I felt like it. But the dress says polyester and the shirt says viscose. If you were able to feel the fabrics of the women’s items, what were they like?
Uh..is.
