Choice picks from the Shopbop savings event

It’s a the-more-you-spend-the-more-you-save situation, and it ends at midnight Thursday, so do not delay. I’ve been eyeing this pretty eyelet dress for a while, and might finally have all the excuse I need to pull the trigger.

These sand-colored wedges would be pretty ideal for wearing with summer dresses.

Just a good striped button down for pairing with trousers or whatever.

These jogger pants look so comfortable and easy.

I really like that these cute braided clogs have studs instead of staples.

The stripes on this beach bag give it a slightly sporty feel.

An easy gauze top that also comes in black.

I’m pretty sure I’ve shown you these jeans before: they’ve got a great wash, and I appreciate that they’e not too high-waisted.

These Sam Edelman loafers are an economical stand-in for this Gucci pair.

And I’m pretty partial to these platform sneakers too.

These adorable Baggu storage cubes are awfully handy.

A nice pair of trousers that are just the right amount of slouchy.

I like that this long sleeve tee has thumbhole cuffs.

And finally, you can’t go wrong with a classic pair of Vans Old Skools.

My daughter is a part time Brooklynite, but was not in town when the shooting occurred, but I still had to call her to make sure she was okay. It’s hard to feel safe anywhere anymore. I used to read the news every morning with my coffee, but now I look at fashion web sites and watch animal videos on Instagram. My head isn’t in the sand, but I can no longer begin my day with shootings and genocide. My emotional heart can’t take it. And now for an awkward segue regarding this post…As Bobby pointed out that first dress is beautiful. I also love the clogs––studs do make all the difference.

That makes two of us. I’ve expanded my animal repertoire on YouTube to include donkeys during the latest rendition of world chaos. Might as well.

CW…my daughter is now living in Brooklyn. I called her. I’m in Sacramento. We are just waiting for another mass-shooting in Oakland so that my son can feel part of the fam. I hardly pay attention to gun violence anymore. What is the point? We are right where the powerful want us to be…numb and distracted. I agree…the news is too sad. I too look at fashion and spend ridiculous amounts of time searching for the perfect second-hand living room chair. Yes, the dress is beautiful. And it seems is would be remarkably versatile!

Please be careful everyone. It’s feeling precarious out there in the world.

If you are able to vote, please also remember to vote for candidates who work to end gun violence. (Kim, feel free to remove my comment if you think it is inappropriate.)

Those jeans are perfect in every way. Alas, I don’t think they’d look as perfect on me as they do on the model.

I bought them back when Kim recommended them a few years ago (I think) and they are my favorite jeans ever. So much so, that I just ordered a new pair. Give ’em a try, you might be surprised. I’m far from model-shaped.

Melissa/Kim: I’ve been eyeing those jeans forever! I love a mid-rise (and consider 9.5″ mid these days!). How do they run size wise?

Also on that Free People Arden top: I ordered it over the winter as an over-the-workout-leggings-to-cover-my-butt jam and it’s REALLY long. It looks so cute in the photos and maybe I ordered a weird color (it’s sort of a grape purple) but the length is almost too long and sleeves are really skinny and long. Word to the wise!

Thanks for the encouragement. I too am not model-sized and was thinking these couldn’t work. Thanks to you, I took the plunge!

Not to minimize yesterday’s news (I am a former Brooklynite and it holds a huge and very special place in my heart), I have the loveshack fancy dress in black (found it on poshmark I think) and it is just really lovely. So lovely that I think I may get the white. I actually took out the elastic at the back of the waist for a more flattering fit on my 50 year old person. 😉

I think that first dress is exquisite, and would love to buy it, but I would never have guessed that it would be your style! Please get it and post pics so I can live vicariously. On a (much) darker note. This morning in Brooklyn…. what’s happening in NYC? (I live here) I hope you are still out of town and nowhere around

I am indeed still out of town, Bobby, but still very upset at yesterday’s news.
