An assortment of lightweight late summer jackets

10

Well, it’s happening: summer days are getting a bit shorter, and in the evenings and mornings there’s the beginning of a nip in the air. And as much as I hate to see my favorite season come to a conclusion, I am happy it’s almost time for fall clothes. Like this super-streamlined chore jacket from Madewell that also comes in this dusty rose hue.

A rear waist cinch keeps this one flattering.

This colorblock windbreaker is just so cool, and I love the big pockets.

Here’s a denim jacket that costs more than perhaps a denim jacket should cost, but I dig the snug fit.

I’m also a fan of this grey trucker jacket, which has a roomy enough fit that it’d be great for layering.

A cute drawstring denim jacket that has a rather sportif vibe.

Levi’s collaborated with Danish brand Ganni on a capsule collection that includes this denim peacoat, which I just love and which is currently marked down.

I bought the L’Agence jean jacket on a total whim and was feeling a bit of buyer’s remorse about the price until I actually wore it. It is so soft and stretchy and lightweight, and absolutely perfect! I have worn it a ton and will continue to wear it over sweaters into the fall.

I love this post! Jackets like these are good for 3 1/2 seasons in Los Angeles; that Madewell jacket is fabulous.

These are my kind of jackets because in Austin you can wear them until (at least) December. That Madewell grey trucker jacket would be so perfect for walking Betty. I can see it as a blazer substitute with jeans. And if you’re going to have patch pockets, have big’uns.

I’m amidst the first of 3 moves in the next 9 months (into a new house pre-renovation, out for renovations, back in after renovations) and I am donating and consigning like crazy.

I’m going to Boston for the first time Labor Day weekend and am wondering about the weather there then- will I need a light jacket, or will it still be summer-y? Anyone got any pointers?

As a Boston resident, I’d say it’ll probably be fairly summery Labor Day weekend, but since the weather can be very variable I’d recommend bringing a lightweight jacket, sweater, or sweatshirt. Think layers. Sometimes I’ll wear a lightweight linen shirt as a layer for cooler morning or evening walks. Enjoy your visit.

The RealReal has older season L’Agence denim. As for their new stuff, the prices make me wince a bit but it’s classic enough that you’ll wear it for years. All these jackets are great picks! In other news, both bars in my bedroom closet broke last night. One broke and the weight of the formerly hung clothing broke the other. All of my clothing is on the floor until the handyman can get here (Friday) and I am shocked and embarrassed at the sheer quantity of stuff. It’s looking like time for a yard sale. I need to tread lighter on the planet. (This is in no way a criticism of commentators on a shopping blog.)

EEK. but a good way to edit. How about this for criteria, if you don’t even want to bend over and pick it up, it’s time to go…
