This moleskin number also comes in army green and black—both of which might be more wearable hues—but I’m enchanted by this dusty lilac.
Here’s one that looks as put-together as a blazer.
And here’s an easy, casual, and well-priced option.
This quilted version of J. Crew’s Downtown Field Jacket is so very outdoorsy-chic.
And here’s a Barbour jacket, for those who insist on the original.
The exagerrated collar on this jacket makes it standout.
Here’s one that looks like the army/navy store classic, but is cut for a woman.
I dig the touches of corduroy at the sleeves and collar on this timeless choice.
And the blue here is just slightly washed out and pretty perfect.
A snappy camo print jacket that’s currently marked down.
This Alex Mill specimen looks just like the French postal worker jackets that are all the rage at the moment (FYI: you can find lots on authentic vintage ones on Etsy).
This is a nicely polished choice.
And finally, one from L.L. Bean in spiff khaki.
Oh man—I own two military jackets already (but they are totally different!) and now crave that gorgeous Liverpool jacket. And I own a couple of chore jackets but the Alex Mill one—or maybe one of the Etsy alternatives—is pulling me hard right now. Such good choices! Thanks for these!
That Liverpool jacket is as classic as the Anine Bing one that is perennially out of stock. May have to pull the trigger.
I just ordered that Liverpool jacket! Kim, thanks for the recs, it is definitely Little Jacket season and I can’t wear a jean jacket with everything!
I already have FOUR chore jackets––2 military green, one off white by Everlane and one Barbour so WHY do I think I need at least two, okay three of these?!?!?! I want the Free People washed blue because it would be PERFECT for travel and the Sam Edelman because it comes in a pale pink which seems so CHEERFUL and maybe the Alex Mill because it would look so great with white jeans this summer. I need a chore jacket intervention.
CW, step away from the jackets and no one will get hurt!
Kim, would it be possible to give us another link for the taupe number with the drawstring? Doesn’t seem to be available at Nordstrom any more. Or maybe just the brand if you can’t find a link? Thank you!
That jacket is by Sam Edelman and it appears to be sold out and not available on the Sam Edelman site, so I deleted it from the post.
The link on the blue one (#9) is broken?
Weird—it’s working for me. Anyone else having trouble with it?
Every time I see the J. Crew barn jacket, I can’t help but think of one of my favorite Seinfeld moments when Jerry introduces J. Peterman to George who is wearing his own barn jacket:
“J. Peterman”
“J. Crew!”
I’m like CW: I’m ALWAYS drawn to a good chore jacket! But evidenced by my front hall closet that can no longer hold my guest’s jackets because it’s too packed with mine, I do not need another.
I have the dark rinse denim one by Cos with the exaggerated collar and love it. Now looking at the Alex Mill and those on Etsy. That shade of blue is beautiful.
I hope this is okay. Cute shoe alert: boden has these cute suede loafer-espadrilles. I can’t bc the PF is back. A really nice pink and a very nice yellow too. (And I’m not a yellow-clothes person, generally.) https://www.bodenusa.com/en-us/suede-loafer-espadrilles-rambling-rose/sty-a1191-mag?cat=C1_S2_G11
PF?
Hey Viajera, The pink shoe is really super cute. I love a bright shoe or handbag. I’m bookmarking this page. Thank you for providing the link.
I looove that Barbour jacket but I went with the free people blue. Thanks so much for this!
First-time poster here. Thank you for the fantastic edit as always! Your blog and podcast are front and center of my rotation, always a highlight in my day. Between your stuff and Andrea’s blog I feel like I’m part of the coolest (virtual) friend circle.
