A whole mess of cardigans

15

It’s just beginning to get cool in the early mornings and late evenings, and soon enough it’ll be truly autumnal out, and we’ll all be reaching for sweaters. I’d like to get my hands on this Vince polo-neck cardigan, which is so chic and has the added advantage of being made of boiled cashmere.

The bright details on this cable-knit sweater make it standout.

The cropped length on this one would be ideal for pairing with dresses.

A rugged fisherman’s sweater at a nice price (also this similar one is really good, but it’s pricier).

I own a version of this slightly shrunken cardi, and it’s just as versatile as you could possibly imagine.

I realize this crocheted sweater is quite deeply cottagecore, but there’s something about it I really like.

And here’s a very subtle crocheted sweater if the above is too much for you.

This cute puff-shoulder number is pretty cheap and comes in a variety of good colors.

A nifty polo-neck sweater jacket from Madewell that’s just as spiff as can be.

This one has a satisfyingly chunky vibe.

And here’s a shaggy one that evokes the grunged-out 90s.

This brushed mohair blend is from Acne and isn’t cheap, but I love the texture, and the blue-black hue.

This space dye cardi looks like it could be from Missoni.

A pocket cardi that rings in under $100 and comes in a few good colors.

This mustard yellow cardigan has a Chanel-ish look.

And finally: a camel-colored boxy cardigan that’s the just-right amount of cropped.

Fun post, Kim!! … … … Apparently I have morphed into some kind of dittohead? Which is funny bc I was just about to say how I have a deep seated prejudice against polo collars. But of course I wouldn’t possibly write that since I am brainwashed. Before the internet, when people were in a bad mood, they didn’t embarrass themselves in front of as many people. (Which I do too, sometimes. As many of you already know!!) If people are bored, there is always rock climbing. (But use ropes. Learn properly. Go take a class … ) … … … Back to the clothes – love me some space dye!!! And cropped cardis – always looking for those.

Exactly and agreed, Viejera. When I am in a “mood”, I take a walk.

Wish I’d had that advice last night before I tore it up around here….

I’m ALWAYS into cardigans – they’re the perfect “3rd piece” to make an outfit.

I’m drooling over quite a few of these – if the Madewell sweater jacket had pockets it would have been en route.

Yawn. I’m done here, too much of a daily echo chamber in the comments and Kim’s standard picks from the same retailers on repeat make me miss this blog’s days of yore when putting together an outfit that was uniquely YOU actually mattered.

I don’t usually do this, but just this once… When a writer no longer clicks with me, I just stop reading the writer. When offering feedback on someone’s writing, I offer it in a way that allows the writer to use the feedback constructively: insulting a writer serves no purpose, other than venting one’s spleen, I suppose. Also, I assure you, no one would ever mistake me for an echo of someone else–and the same goes for the other readers and commenters on this site.

This is a great selection of sweaters! Thank you always for an array of styles and prices. A few are in my online shopping bag!

I like that extra row of ribbing(?) that runs around that last boxy camel. Can’t wear boxy or camel, but I can look for that detail in something more suited.

I’m not usually a cardigan person, but that Acne version is insane. It could possibly convert me.

Aw, that Free People fuzzy sweater reminds me of my all-time favorite grunge sweater from Madewell (back when they were a little more Brit pop) that I strangely got rid of, but it’s not as good. I often think cardigans are too stuffy and office-y for every day, but this particular one was almost knee length, thin, fuzzy, and olive green with small black buttons and front pockets. I wore it to shows all the time.

Thanks for this fall sweater overview! Can anyone point me to a source for 3/4 length sleeve cardigan or v neck sweater? I love 3/4 sleeve length to transition in fall or spring but it is so hard to find! In the before times, I would often pair a 3/4 length sleeve cardigan with a shift dress and it felt stylish. Many sweaters have longish sleeve which can feel a bit messy with a dress. Thanks!

My heart is skipping a few “beets” over that Acne petrol blue brushed mohair! I imagine it with a fair isle sweater vest underneath and a button up underneath that (along with my Dre boyfriend jeans)––all combined to make me look uniquely me!
