I can’t get enough of these, and they’re absolutely everywhere at the moment, so let’s take a look. I don’t typically like these jackets in their longer iteration, but this windowpane check number from Madewell is just so damned chic.
A cozy option in beautiful greens and blues.
This plaid reminds me of a very traumatically itchy dress my mom made for me when I was little, but I still think it’s aces.
Purple is almost always too much for me, but this cropped jacket is just really adorable.
This one has a really unexpected print that I kind of like.
I dig the contrasting plaid at the sleeve of this one.
This is in one of my favorite color combinations and I therefore might have to go for it.
A stylish and slightly deconstructed choice.
This puffer doesn’t really strictly belong in this category, but I love it too much not to include it.
The oversized pockets here are a nice touch.
You can’t go wrong with classic camel and cream.
I am so enchanted by the pops of lilac on this one.
And finally, such a cute bomber shape.
Kim, imagine that favorite color combo with mustard jeans?
I’m a sucker for plaid, and many of these jackets remind me of the CPO jackets my brothers wore in the 70’s. And that white plaid is a variation of Stewart plaid, and I’m a Stewart. Have to think long and hard about the green/yellow combo, as jackets are my weakness. Even after what I thought was a clean out when we moved, I still have SO many. Thanks for the eye candy this morning!
Ok, GOACAgers, I need help! My ability to gauge what is an acceptable and not crazy pattern for a coat like this is bonkers (I blame the pandemic and I have recently – similar to Kim – been adding more color into my wardrobe). I recently bought this coat from Faribault Mills. https://www.faribaultmill.com/collections/blanket-jackets/products/tayo-onadein-nefertiti-blanket-jacket
My sister says it’s great; my BF says it’s nuts and not savable through styling. What say you – crazy auntie or chic shiboro? If I wore it with all black, I think I could work it. It is more colorful/patterny than I typically have for coats.
I love it! Try it with off-white jeans and accessories.
Do YOU like it? That’s what counts! Anyway, that said, I do like it and think you should keep it. It’s blue for gods sake–how crazy could it get?
What a fabulous coat! The color and interesting pattern make a great statement. I feel like it’ll be that item in your closet that elevates anything you’re wearing.
I think it’s beautiful! Would look gorgeous with denim. (NEVER listen to the BF/husband. Wear what you like and what makes you feel good.)
This is all a total pick me up. THANK YOU for the styling tips. The coat stays. (for the record, I meant Best Friend when I wrote BF. I didn’t even ask husband what he thought. Haha)
Chic. That is a coat that makes an outfit, whether all black or with jeans and white sneaker. Great choice
LOVE! And I never care what a dude thinks…
I’m with Joanna – it’s a blue coat. Not a problem. Except – if *you* will feel uncomfortable wearing it, then I’d return it and save the money. It sounds like you have some questions about the whole thing. This is okay.
I think it’s great. And I definitely like the idea of wearing with mostly white or mostly black underneath. Could see grey tones too. It’s the kind of thing that maybe most men won’t “get” but your girlfriends will think you’re chic as hell.
I love it, too! I think it could go sporty with jeans and a t shirt and some fun sneaks, or chic with cool boots or booties and turtleneck. Think Mabel Mora! It’s not nuts at all.
I actually LOVE that coat — and I don’t often go for patterns beyond the occasional stripe or plaid!
Definitely chic. Love that shade of blue. Listen to your sister!
Joining the chorus: it’s fantastic, just a couple of clicks away from a denim jacket, in a nice way. I’d wear it like a denim jacket… maybe with those mustard cords that were a favorite from the last post.
