This one is on the pricier side, but I really like the color, and the kind of shaggy pile of the fleece.
I showed you this jacket in grey the other day, but this iteration is so excellent I thought I ought to include it too.
This has a sporty vibe that I dig.
Here’s one from Denimist, a brand I like a lot, and it’s currently marked down.
Alex Mill’s version is slightly utilitarian in design, and I like the slightly contrasting patch pockets.
Here’s one from North Face that’s guaranteed to be warm. Plus, that yellow!
This zebra-striped jacket is a quick way to make any outfit cool.
Sandy Liang is sort of the pioneer of fleece-as-fashion, and while her stuff isn’t cheap, it’s so chic. This little number has such an excellent fake fur collar.
I like the roominess of this one.
Here’s an under $100 option that comes in a few good colors.
This one reminds me of the iconic sweater that The Dude wears in The Big Lebowski, and I mean that in a good way.
This is from Barbour, which automatically makes me want it more, which I know is silly but there you have it.
And this bright specimen is from a brand I love called Cotopaxi.
The shirt jacket shape here would be perfect for layering.
There’s a Sandy Liang collab at Target right now and I scored THE CUTEST fleece. Beautiful quality, too. I know florals aren’t for everybody but this works somehow.

I bought this one from Cos, and it is perfect. From early morning dog walks to everything else I need to do that day. For zoom calls, I just put a colorful scarf around my neck and no one will be the wiser.

That’s really cute! Thank you.
That looks pretty darn perfect! Off to find a recent Kim link to a COS item and order it!
Aw, that’s really thoughtful of you, Eloise.
Cara,
On the very off chance you’ll see this, thanks again for the recommendation. It just got here and I put it on to see if it fit (it does) and may not take it off until spring!
What is it about the Barbour name that makes me instantly want anything with that tag?! And I DO want that Barbour fleece (and I’d probably want it anyway because of the cut and the color).
I really like the roomy Ali (Shopbop) one but am not sure about the back pocket thing – wonder if it would bunch/crinkle when sitting down? The Denimist is also very appealing and comes in other colors – not to be THAT person, but there is a forest green one for under $100 on Nordstrom Rack but it only comes in XS – someone needs to grab it and save me the hassle of a return (I need a Small in most jackets): https://www.saksoff5th.com/product/denimist-fleece-jacket-0400014545158.html?dwvar_0400014545158_size=S
Oops, Off 5th, not Nordstrom Rack.
Soooooooo many of these are just straight Patagonia rip-offs!
What I would really love is to find out where to find that striped hoodie underneath the Barbour fleece!
I think it’s super important to reinforce the point Jaz made: fleece is really, really bad for the environment. From this article:
More than one-third of the microplastics in the ocean come from synthetic clothing. Plastic microfibers have been found in food, water, and air.
https://www.oceancleanwash.org/2019/10/should-you-throw-away-your-polyester-fleece/
Here’s another story about this, based on a Patagonia study:
Based on an estimate of consumers across the world laundering 100,000 Patagonia jackets each year, the amount of fibers being released into public waterways is equivalent to the amount of plastic in up to 11,900 grocery bags.

I didn’t know this until recently; now that I have learned, I’ve sworn off buying fleece, no matter how cute it is.
Look, I really love the look and use of fleece too (I’ve got 2 fleece jackets and a combo sherpa and quilted jacket in the closet right now). I’m definitely going to try to just buy fleece made from recycled plastics like bottles, when I next need to. I’m eternally tempted by all this cute fleece, but we should all buy and consume carefully, due to the environmental impact of fleece. We and the ocean are eating the plastic it sheds: https://www.instyle.com/fashion/luxury-fleece-sustainability
