Ten perfectly solid t-shirts

12

Today’s post feels maybe slightly boring but definitely highly useful: we live in t-shirts once summer hits, and it occurred to me that perhaps you’d like to see some without stripes on them, since that’s usually all I show. I like a nice deep scoop neck on my tees, and this is the deepest one I’ve seen.

I’m a big fan of Everlane’s linen tees: they hang really nicely and aren’t as pricey as other linen tees I’ve seen. This one comes in a really good blue too.

A very deep V neck is a good thing too.

Here’s one for fans of the pocket tee, and it’s quite well-priced: click through to see the other colors it comes in.

This one is just so excellently drapey.

And here’s a personal favorite: Jolie Laide’s Roll and Tuck Tee. It slouches so beautifully and is all-around flattering. And as a special deal for GOACA readers, type in GOACA at checkout and get 20% off! Offer is good until 12am Friday 6/21.

This James Perse number is a classic, and perfection at camouflaging stomach junk.

From Universal Standard: this V-neck comes in black and white, but I like this cool mushroom-y hue.

This twist front number gives you a nifty half-tucked look with absolutely no tucking.

The ruffle sleeve here is awfully sweet (and here’s a similar-but-cheaper option).

    Two questions:

    1. What is the purpose of a chest pocket on a woman’s t-shirt?

    2. How do you figure out which size to get for the Jolie Laide shirt?

Also, I forget, what is modal? Do we like modal?

Modal is another word for rayon – a man-made fiber from wood pulp. It tends to breathe well, and depending on how it made, can wash well, but some versions shrink a lot on contact with water.

Wiki says it is a special type of rayon, specifically engineered to respond better to water,

Modal is crazily, fabulously soft and smooth. I think it’s one of the better inventions of the twentieth century.

Idk, Joanna, but I have two of the Madewell tees and I love them so much that I wear them every day. (My husband has to wait until I go to bed so he can sneak them in the wash!) 😉

Other issues with modal/rayon: you can’t bleach it and it snags. But otherw1se, we like it!

Modal/rayon makes me sweat. Don’t know why. Just does. Skin sensitivity?

I should have said MOST modal/rayon makes me sweat. The fabric is sometimes used for exercise wear and that doesn’t seem to be so difficult for me. Percentages maybe?

Can petite frames wear the size 1 Jolie Laide?

I have the Jolie Laide tee and it constantly falls off my shoulders and drives me nuts. Would be fine if didn’t need bra, but I do – and I hate showing my bra straps. How do you deal with this?

I really hesitate to spend $$$ on tees, the same thing always happens to mine. Right where the front of the shirt hits my jeans/shorts/whatever, these little holes appear. Maybe cheap material? Too thin? I don’t know. But if I knew a $78 tshirt wouldn’t do that, I might buy one!
