Loved “A Star is Born”. I saw it last weekend. It made me smile, it made me cry and it made me laugh. To me, that’s entertainment.
😂
Dying to see a star is born as well!
I saw it on Monday. Can’t stop thinking about it.
I have seen it. I was really impressed with Lady Gaga. She’s a natural actress, knows when to reel it in and when to unleash.
I keep hearing great things about it, but I adore Kris Kristofferson (my #1 crush of all time) and don’t like Bradley Cooper, and Lady Gaga was so bad in American Horror Story that I have a feeling I’ll hate it.
MAJOR SPOILER ALERT! Don’t read that article unless you’ve already seen A Star is Born. And if you haven’t seen it—go today! It’s so so good!
I’m driving 200 miles on Friday to see A Star is Born this weekend with my best friend (and a box of tissues).
How was the music in it? I don’t know if it’s technically considered a musical though.
Definitely a musical, and the music is surprisingly good. I had no idea Gaga’s voice was so spectacular, and there are some very good songwriters involved. The Jason Isbell song Bradley Cooper sings is gorgeous. I’ve had the soundtrack on repeat all week.
Kim, what do you mean by “totally manipulate me”? Manipulate you how? In that I can’t stop thinking about the movie, immediately downloaded the soundtrack, listening to it at work, and swooning over Bradley Cooper’s voice, I think I may be manipulated!
So the new comedy about the adult girl scouts has four writers––one woman and three men. uh…no. I understand a ton of folks are jumping on the new A Star Is Born and I’m sitting in my grouchy old lady corner saying “wtf with all the effing REMAKES” does no one have a single NEW story idea?!?!?!
oh me too….plus Bradley Cooper makes me want to punch whatever screen he is displayed upon.
I am HERE for Joan Jett performing “Smells Like Teen Spirit”! As an aside, if you haven’t watched Dave Grohl and his daughter perform an Adele cover, you are in for a treat! That little girl is so very talented (and has the sartorial leanings of a GOACA): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnNHB5oS4Bc
Also: Cannot wait to see “ASiB”…I’m just a crotchety old queen who couldn’t bring herself to go on opening weekend, will def see it soon. 🙂
I haven’t seen it yet, but am DYING to. I get goosebumps when I see the trailer. (I think it’s the music, but am not sure.) I also think there’s a lot of chemistry between Cooper and Gaga. A friend who is a story analyst for Columbia Pictures said that it “shows the best, most believable falling in love sequence ever shown in a movie.”
I saw it last weekend and pretty much loved it. Both Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga are terrific. And have you heard BC’s adorable dog is in it? Every woman I’ve talked to who has seen it thinks Brad is HOT. There’s a lot of music in the film, much of it good, some deliberately cheesy. A few of the songs are stuck in my brain’s shower playlist. Go see it.
Judy Garland / James Mason incarnation will always be my fave but I did like the Streisand remake. I’m sure I will like this one too.
Well, when you do see it, I really hope you’ll tell us what you thought. (I adored it, and am plotting when I will go see it again. And probably again after that, frankly.)
Loved A Star is Born! My youngest daughter and I bawled while my husband passed us tissues. I’ve seen 3 of the versions now, but not the “Uncle Fred” iteration. We called him that in seminary because we had movie night with our pals who were as broke as we were and whoever hosted got to choose the movie. Our dear friend’s uncle was Frederic March, so we watched a lot of good old movies! (Dana D., it was John & Shelly!)
One note about Joan Jett: I’ve never quite looked at her in the same way after reading her bandmate Jackie Fox’s account of her rape by manager Kim Fowley while the others were present & didn’t try to stop it. I tend to side with the victim. Jett has lost her credibility as a badass icon for me. https://highline.huffingtonpost.com/articles/en/the-lost-girls/
