- These stained glass windows of R. Crumb comics are pretty great. (Dangerous Minds)
- A fun rundown of 21 classic books you don’t really have to read, and suggested replacements. (GQ)
- A smart essay about Bill Cosby’s legacy. (NY Times)
- A defense of Michelle Wolf’s brilliant White House Correspondents’ Dinner monologue by the equally brilliant Lizz Winstead. (Elle)
- All 214 artists in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, ranked. (Vulture)
That’s right – Michelle Wolf said it brilliantly & LIzz Winstead defended it brilliantly –
of course Sanders is a shameless mouthpiece for a liar – of course Wolf was right to call it all out – that’s what she was hired to do. This past year has numbed me to the hypocrisy the stupidity the evil, but the lies attacking Wolf this past weekend made me extra mad. the sight of Sanders & Conway (i can never decide who i despise more) makes me so sick.
sorry for the rant, but god, how much more can we take.
i will now look @ those excellent R.Crumb windows & calm down.
It’s hard to stay calm, I agree. You wrote everything I think every time I see those poor women (sanders and conway).
I feel sorry for them, even as I know that their actions are hurting real people.
I don’t feel sorry for them in the least, Dana. Both Sanders and Conway were entirely aware of Trump’s character and decided to reinforce the ugly crap that spews from his mouth. They are more than willing to lie to the American public on a daily basis!
No, thank you for this rant! One of the things I’ve missed about the links is the comaraderie in the comments, especially around the political effluent we’re swimming in day in and day out. I live in a really liberal area, but even still, it makes me feel less isolated.
Thank for these fascinating links that have sucked me in for the last hour. Maybe more. “What did you actually think she was going to talk about?” perfectly sums up the idiotic, hypocritical response to Michelle Wolf. Enjoyed the classic book rundown too, until I got to how Catch-22 “fails to capture the absurdities and impossible conflicts of war.” Slaps forehead, decides to read about cute tees instead.
Love the book piece.
Makes me think of the world I live in–of public school English education and our absurd and irrational love of the “classic” and its importance for youth.
There are so many amazing and relevant and wonderful and ethnically rich titles written for young adults today and at my little school in Sacramento teachers still think The Outsiders is cool…
Sorry, my own rant.
Fortunately for me I follow a number of writers on Facebook who have all written brilliantly about Michelle Wolf as has Lizz Winstead so I feel somewhat calmer because I know I’m not alone. I just hope voters hold the entire GOP responsible for what has been done and what is being done to our country and democracy. Yet, because my entire family STILL believes trump was the right choice and hopes he gets an additional 4 more years to undo all the “wrongs” Obama did, I still spend many nights sleepless with worry.
Michelle Wolf was savage – in the best way. She spared no one (‘Chappaquidick in theaters now’).
And she did attack someone’s looks: “Mitch McConnell couldn’t be here tonight because he’s getting his neck circumcised.”
Hilarious.
I’ve always felt like maybe he’s hyperthyroid. Some radioactive iodine would do wonders for him (but not for his cold, black, shriveled, cowardly little heart).
😂
My daughter and I were discussing the whole “Why are people so pissed off at Michelle Wolf?” backlash, and I truly believe it has a lot to do with a black woman having an open platform to say whatever she wanted. GROW-UP AMERICA!
I honestly didn’t realize this myself at first, but she’s not black.
