The 25 film video countdown is fantastic, I took notes on many films I had missed. Among my favourites from last year there is Bacurau and I’m very glad it was part of the list, it’s a Brazilian weird movie that went a bit undetected.
Anyway I’m going to come back during the week to dig better into the other links.
Thank you for sharing Kim and hope you’re well!!
Hi – Missed you on Friday, Kim. I know I am having a hard time motivating to work – harder now than at any time during the pandemic, actually. I’m sure it’s a combo of this time of year (not my favorite even sans pandemic) & the unique dissonance of the moment – seemingly being poised to turn this around with vaccines yet also facing new strains & untold distribution / disease challenges ahead. Again, not sure if this is at all apropos, but thought I would put it out there in case it was the Friday funk that overtook you – it seems to be going around! Grateful for you & GOACA. xo
Thanks! The McSweeney’s piece was fun. We may as well laugh …
I watched all those old House of Style videos last summer and they were so funny. I loved that show back in the day and was actually able to quote many of the model interview lines from those segments. Cindy Crawford was so stiff and Naomi Campbell was such a character.
Cicley Tyson is so dazzling and dramatic. Despite being so tiny in stature she could carry all those ensembles.
Everything old is new again. Do we need a new Gatsby?
Gatsby entered the public domain this year. I have a feeling this won’t be the last new Gatsby.
Actually, I don’t think we do 🙂 As much as I like Fitzgerald, Gatsby isn’t a story you can actually relate to nowadays, Gatsby and Daisys problems today … wouldn’t really be problems. You could turn Gatsby into Daisys stalker for a fresh take on the story, but I don’t think that’s going to happen.
