- Some aerial photos taken by drones that are just amazing. (Colossal)
- And these pictures of an abandoned art deco bank in NYC are really something too. (Messy Nessy Chic)
- The trailer for the new Wes Anderson movie, The French Dispatch, looks very textbook Wes Anderson, but also kind of great. (YouTube)
- These Zen Garden Patterns are so damn soothing. (Kottke)
- We’ve got author Jaime Lowe on Everything is Fine this week, and it’s a good one. Also, ladies, it’s a fantastic time to join our Patreon, as we’re having our first live event, on Thursday the 23rd at 7:30 ET, exclusively for subscribers. (Apple Podcasts)
- I was so sad to learn of Norm Macdonald’s death this week. This is a good remembrance of him. (Vulture)

- And here’s your rabbit hole of the day: a rundown of the 500 greatest songs of all time, updated for the first time since 2004. (Rolling Stone)

- A pretty fascinating piece about the LuLaRoe pyramid scheme. (Vox)
Oh, Wes Anderson. How I love thee….Have been WAITING through the pandemic for this movie to finally release. And looking forward to checking out Mr. Robot. I think it’s something the Mr. and I can enjoy together. Always a challenge. Thank you!
Oh, that Zen garden thing. Thank you for that.
I’ve been binge watching Lupin and the LulaRoe documentary, LulaRich, is next up.
I look forward to your Friday links. Thanks so much!
hey–the bank links to the bird article…
Fixed! Thanks for the heads up.
Something to watch: Flatbush Misdemeanors on Showtime. Funny
That bank building is magnificent.
Hey Kim: this is unrelated to the Friday links, but I thought you and your readers would enjoy this incredible/crazy collection of clothing from a philanthropist, Michelle Smith. It’s mind blowing! I might bid on one of the collections of dress shirts. The sizing is all 12-14 but I figure I can get shirts altered. Really want a collection of cashmere sweaters, but they’d be too big.

Truly amazing, Andrea.
Sotheby’s auctioned some of Smith’s furnishings and jewelry last spring. Fascinating and confounding ( check out the $$$ Lalanne faux livestock–always a wealth signifier, seems to come with the uber-rich kit ).

Thank you for posting this Andrea. Fascinating to see. She clearly knew her own style.
FYI: our live event is on Thursday, September 23rd not the 24th (a mistake I totally made when I sent out the invite.) https://www.patreon.com/everythingisfine
I like Sally Rooney (and loved the Hulu adaptation of Normal People), thanks for sharing
The LuLaRoe doc is CRAZY!
I binged all four episodes yesterday. I went in knowing very little beyond the fact that they sold patterned leggings. Holy smokes, definitely worth a watch.
