  • Check out this crazy house that’s for sale. (Curbed)
  • Every Marilyn Monroe movie, ranked. (Vulture)
  • We’ve got beauty editor Val Monroe on Everything is Fine this week, and she is just so smart and thoughtful. Do tune in if you haven’t already.

  • Recently, I’ve been seized by the urge to make a chicken pot pie—this recipe was so, so easy and delicious. (Wholesome Dish)
  • Those of you who listened to the first season of the Serial podcast know that the man at the center of the series—Adnan Syed—was exonerated this week in the case of the murder of a former girlfriend. Here’s a smart piece about the whole deal. (NY Mag)
  • Finally, a couple more posts about Queen Elizabeth before I close out that topic, starting with this visual dictionary of “the things that made the queen the queen.” (NY Times)
  • And this piece about her funeral was pretty smart and insightful too. (New Yorker)

I was just reading my Ryuko box set last weekend…so, the Messy Nessy article was much enjoyed! https://www.rightstufanime.com/Ryuko-Manga-Box-Set
Viajera, thanks for the link. My husband loves videos like that; it will be something nice to show when he gets home.

I enjoyed watching this surfer get his board back from an otter (it’s very calm, nobody gets hurt): https://ktla.com/news/california/video-otter-swipes-surfboard-in-santa-cruz/

If even animals like to surf, then I guess I better learn.

Hi, thank you for the great links! Just one point of clarification — Adnan Syed wasn’t exonerated, he was released after his conviction was vacated. The state has 30 days to decide if they want to retry him. I’ll definitely stay tuned! (PS For those who liked the Serial podcast, please check out Season 2 of the In the Dark podcast. Gripping!)

So much to unpack here! Joan Didion’s funeral–was it the equivalent of the Queen’s? I mean, who could have a mourner named Boaty Boatwright? I loved all of QEII’s symbols; dogs, brooches, Hermes head scarves and boring black purses. I guess at my age nostalgia is taking over. On to KC III–I’m not expecting much.
