I’ve needed new nightstands for my guest room since I moved into this place over a year ago, but I kept rejecting all contenders as too small, too big, too pricey, or just plain wrong. Then a search led me to Amazon, where I found this Lucite specimen, which is pretty nicely priced and very nearly perfect. My guest room also serves other functions—I store a lot of stuff in there—so I wanted a pair of nightstands that would sort of disappear and not add to the clutter, which these really do. I also just think they’re super-chic, and for sure look like they cost more than they do.
Hope you’re also filling your nightstand with beautiful cakes and cups of tea, Kim! Looks super cute.
Got a bedside lamp from West Elm that has a USB port in the base. Genius idea!
New throw pillows for our couch. While I loved the design on our old ones, they were badly pilled, not as plump as they once were and the quills poked through the cover. Now, it looks so nice when I walk in the front door and see fluffed pillows staring back at me.
Ok maybe not a “product purchase” but we bit the bullet and paid to have our popcorn ceilings removed—and it is such a positive change! The rooms are brighter and bigger looking and appear cleaner (keyword: appear). It wasn’t cheap and was kind of a messy process…but worth every penny (and speck of dust!)
I need to upgrade a few things and welcome any recomm. Knives, pots/pans (considered All Clad but not sure I need to spend that much money…have seen good reviews on the brand Tramontina). Recently bought a essential oil diffuser which is so lovely to have on while snuggled under a quilt my grandmother made, reading a good book.
You just missed the All-Clad seconds sale. It’s held a few times a year, and you can get great prices on seconds and things with packaging damage. I’ve gotten many pieces over the years—just ordered a cordless stick blender for like $130 that retails for $330. Have gotten pans as well, and the second quality is usually just a minor scratch or something.
I just bought a Tramontina triple ply 3 qt sauce pan and love it! Made in Brazil and a fraction of the price of All Clad. I bought it through Walmart online.
I love my Made In pans (and they are based in Austin, where I live!). I think All Clad is overpriced compared to equally good pans (and I have lots of All CLad) like Sitram and Made In.
It’s not fancy, but Farberware is remarkably resilient. We got a 7 piece set for a wedding gift in 2001 and after 20 years of every day use they are still top notch and they clean up like a dream.
A Cymbidium orchid just yesterday. This 3′ beauty is outside my front door. Blooms will last for three months. Also more indoor plants too. Flowers and greenery help with late winter doldrums!
Well we got it a while ago, but, a two-tiered “lazy Susan” – I feel weird about the name! – https://www.macys.com/shop/product/mikasa-haven-2-tier-lazy-susan?ID=11139917&CategoryID=22672 It is pretty sturdy so far, and you can fit a lot on it.
This dishrack makes me so happy ! https://food52.com/shop/products/3063-wood-handled-dish-rack?sku=14267&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIy76UtbCC9gIVARDnCh3kEwnkEAQYBCABEgJMcPD_BwE
My new favorite household things are a clever folding bamboo cookbook stand (that multi tasks as an iPad stand) and a small Global Santoku knife. My next kitchen equipment upgrade will be cutting boards.
After two years of working from home hunched over my work laptop, and numerous back issues ordered the Uplift standing desk. Best purchase ever!! I did try it out first at my new office (only in one day a week right now) and knew it was for me. I would go so far as to say “life changing” lol.
We are gutting our kitchen (looking forward to the end result but not the process!) and I somehow managed to persuade my way more subdued husband to agree to the Black Plum (read: purple) farmhouse sink which arrived last week, about 5 months after placing the order: https://www.us.kohler.com/us/whitehaven-undermount-single-bowl-farmhouse-kitchen-sink/productDetail/kitchen-sinks/428755.htm?skuId=1683216&brandId=433000
Oh my, that sink is everything. Please post the finished space!
I, too, am renovating my kitchen. I just had a backsplash installed using these tiles, which are subway-style but without the flat surface—kind of wavy. The vanilla works in the kitchen, but I also adore the brighter colors like Green Lake and Kale.

Susanna, thanks for the link – we are likely to use something similar to the wavy vanilla for our backsplash. Our sink and countertop will provide the color.
Eloise, we are cosmically aligned (I recall you earlier expressed affection for Elvis Costello’s music and Greer Chicago’s product offerings). I’m about to gut renovate my house, and welcome your strategies for getting a color averse partner to agree to… bolder choices.
Jenny, Honestly, I think he got tired of hearing me talk about it – I carried the color chip in my bag for months. He also “let me” pick out the super bright color for the bathroom vanity. He still doesn’t care for Elvis Costello but will go see him with me. Good luck with your renovation. I can’t wait for our kitchen/bathroom to be done and the process hasn’t even started yet.
Solidarity! About to gut a kitchen and two baths here and finally getting my longtime dream of a wallpapered powder room, a thing no one in my home cares about but me and I cannot wait!
I appear to be losing the wallpaper in the powder room battle, ladies. Personally, I don’t think one wall of something like this is too much to ask for but…..(and, yes, I understand that this may objectively be ugly): https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/flamingos-wallpaper?category=SEARCHRESULTS&color=041&searchparams=q%3Dflamingo&type=STANDARD&size=One%20Size&quantity=1
If you want wallpaper but can’t get agreement, what about a giant wallpaper sample piece that you frame and hang in the room? That’s what I’m doing (except the wallpaper I wanted is sold out and I haven’t found another I liked as much).
I am perhaps an enabler because I deeply desired this:

My partner knows that extreme wallpaper is a must for the downstairs powder room. I support you, Rebecca!
OK so quite the opposite of the beautiful bedside tables you posted Kim. My bedroom has many windows, a fireplace and lots of charm, but the bed wall is just barely wide enough for our Queen size bed with little room for official bedside tables. Recently purchased these https://www.bedshelfie.com/ and can honestly say they are helpful. Also a good solution for apartment dwellers in tight spaces.
Meg, Thanks! I’m ordering the slide version for our spare bedroom, where I’ve been known to crash if I’m working stupid late.
Oh yaaaaaay! Thank you , Meg!! We have no room for bed side tables – but last week I literally woke up with a black eye from sleeping on my phone. Ordering right now!!!
Kate and Eloise…You will not be disappointed. Such a basic idea but so helpful. Hope the eye is healing well😊
I bought those same tables for my bedroom last month! Now I’m attempting to find the right bedside lamps. I strongly suggest purchasing a bottle of Brillianize to clean them. I thought they were clean until the bottle arrived and I cleaned them again. Dramatic difference.
This post made me realize that I haven’t purchased anything for my home in a long time! But I’m ready to find some new pillows for my living room sectional. Something with an eclectic, boho vibe. I’m looking at some of these: https://www.oneaffirmation.com/collections/new-arrivals-1
