Things I bought, things I want, kitchen edition

13

For months or longer, I have been served ads for the Always Pan on Instagram, and its promise to do the job of eight traditional pieces of cookware finally suckered me in and I went for it. And can I just say, it is the most nonstick a pan as I have ever experienced. Cooked food just slides off of it.

Also from the company that brings you the Always Pan: these drinking glasses, which I love all in different hues, like this, though you cam buy them in a solid set too.

I am in possession of both a serious fresh orange juice obsession, and of a citrus juicer that is no longer up to the task. It was a kind of a dinky model to start with, and it really is on its last legs. So I’m thinking of going for this gorgeous, sturdy one from luxe Italian brand Smeg, because it really does look like it’s built to last.

These jacquard woven napkins are really nice, and I like that they’re mismatched.

I just really need a garlic pot, and this one is so cute.

I’m a mug breaker, so I’m always on the lookout for new ones, and this large specimen from Marimekko is both sweet and slightly trippy.

I want this Yeti Rambler for bringing my drinks with me.

A butter dish is such a civilized thing to own, and somehow I’ve never possessed one, and I think it’s time.

These diminutive salt and pepper grinders come in a few colors, but I prefer this clean white.

I have looked at The Always Pan but in reading reviews, does not seem to hold up long term…can you please update us on your experience with it in 6-8 months? Any other followers have feedback on this pan????

Ours went to crap after about 4-5 months. It looked pretty and kind of chic, but really was never anything special function-wise.

A butter dish is an excellent thing to have. May I recommend you go with a butter bell? It helps keep butter fresh outside the fridge by submerging it in cool water.

I second the butter bell recombination.

I was going to say the same. I have one like that, but I didn’t know there was a name for it. Butter bell–I like it. 🙂

I bought the Always Pan a few years ago and it’s great for cooking medium-small meals that don’t need to be seared. It hasn’t replaced anything in my collection of pots and pans however, and I certainly wouldn’t get rd of my All-Clad sauté pan because I have the Always Pan. The non-stick on it is really good , though and I have no regrets about getting it. They go on sale a couple times a year so that’s a good time to get one.

I’m liking those stackable glasses. I’m not hard on mugs, but I can destroy a drinking glass in about two weeks––as a result, the drinking glasses section of my kitchen is tiny and looks thrift-store collegiate. Oy and Egad. On a more positive note I finally logged onto The RealReal this weekend and ended up purchasing a Vince jacket and a 6397 blazer––both new with tags both of which should be delivered this coming Thursday and I’m like a spoiled kid waiting for xmas.

Re that yeti tumbler, which I have and use everyday, be aware that that particular lid is not leak proof. But yeti does make many that do have leak proof lids

The glasses look just like a set my grandparents had in their fabulous mid century modern home when I was a kid. Makes me nostalgic. And I need a garlic keeper, too, and that one is pretty great!

My parents have several of the Marimekko mugs with different designs. They always brighten their kitchen and tables.

While we are on home stuff … do your research if you are looking at front load washers. So far I do not care for them. Ask around.
