Here we have the ever-stylish Ines de la Fressange (check out her excellent Uniqlo line here) styled precisely how I think polos look best: paired with slouchy pants, layered necklaces, and maybe an armful of bangles too. They’re not the most inherently cool item, so you’ve got to raise the cool factor yourself, with accessories, and taking care to pair them with less obviously preppy pieces (Ines’s chinos are preppy, sure, but the color is so unexpected that it works).
This top comes in a multitude of colorways, but I like this blue and white striped number best.
This Lacoste top is about as classic as it gets, and I like the contrasting white buttons.
A metallic top that’d be great under a cardigan.
I like the subtle cable-knit details and contrasting stitching on this Rag & Bone specimen.
And I love the oversized silhouette and spread collar here.
This ribbed sweater is made of ultra-light merino wool, and I love the blue. I’d wear it next to my skin, or layer it over a long-sleeved tee.
A cute rugby shirt from Kule that reminds me of one I had in the 80s from Benneton.
This one from J. Crew has a nice easy fit, and I like the slightly oversized buttons.
Isn’t this one kind of fun and retroish-looking?
A short-sleeved sweater in a nice creamy hue.
I showed you this cashmere sweater last week in black, but this watermelon-y hue is pretty good too.
I’d wear this merino wool piece as a cardigan with a flowy dress.
