It’s prime light-colored pants season

13

There are few looks I love quite the way I love white or similarly light pants with a white shirt or tee: so perfectly put-together in the most summery way imaginable. This chino is very nearly perfect: well-tailored and skinny but not too skinny.

These straight leg cropped pants from Everlane are a great deal and they look crisp as all get-out.

And these carpenter pants have a faint herringbone pattern, which keeps things interesting.

I don’t usually go for such a high waist or for pleats, but something about these appeals.

I like the patch pockets on these wide leg trousers.

A pair of pull-on pants from Vince that are as easy as they are chic.

This drawstring number is a good option for lounging about, but I could see dressing them up for work too (at least for casual Friday).

Nili Lotan’s Tel Aviv pant is a favorite of mine—I have a black pair, and they’re just the right amount of slouchy while still looking sleek.

I recently found a pair of off-white Citizens of Humanity “Harlow” in an off-white colour. However, they’re high-rise and I’m still not certain I can carry off a high rise! Which body type can carry it?

So I am disgruntled bc it is only for small people … but if you are looking for suits there were some nice looking items on Mango. (The violeta stuff was not as good imo. plus separatism.)

The first time I was on Mango’s site, I honestly thought the size listings were a prank. I mean, stopping at size 8? For real? Even when I was a size 8, I preferred a little leeway size-wise. How come my grandmother (who was definitely above size 16 most of her life) could make all her own dresses with a sewing machine and a Butterick’s or McCall’s pattern while Mango is baffled at doing a size 10? Also, I totally agree about Violeta.

You’re so nice, I feel better now. -para- It does look like some nice things though. I shemailed them about Violeta. They are leaving money on the table. -para- The other thing is, and this is probably my fault, but on my ipad it was not possible to even see their size chart from the page link, I had to intergoogle it separately … and then, the Violeta size link didn’t work either, so I don’t know what size I would be there, plus, there appeared to be a gap between the size chart for Mango (the searched one – who knows maybe it’s outdated) and the sizes Mango was actually offering. That is, there was no sign that they actually had offered the size 14s or 16s. (I could find a 12 here and there iirc.) -para- All in all, rather confounding. It is nice to see someone making a warm weather suit though. Have they gone extinct? I am not going to spend $800 on a Nordys one. No matter how much I like something, I know what will happen to it once I start wearing it… and, I just can’t.

I’m a white jeans lover all year round. And I honestly think they’re easy to care for. (Hello, Oxyclean!) But I thought of a question for you, Kim: Does “just the right degree of slouchy” depend on how large a person’s thighs/hips are as opposed to the fit model?

Wearing off white jeams and an ivory linen top as I type! Thanks for the great selection.

I simply cannot do white/light clothing (other than a top that is covered by a jacket or something much of the day). I’m too much of a slob and the trek into NYC is a light-colored clothing killer. Sigh.

These are all great selections! I wear white jeans as often as I can during the spring/summer months and am doing my best to be brave enough to wear them in the winter although in Austin people look at you weird if you wear white after labor day (in some ways Texas is still very archaic)

People still haven’t gotten the message it’s ok to wear white after Labour Day. Even worse, they act as if they have superior fashion sense!

I think it’s just those things we grow up with and everyone grew up with their mothers telling them one thing or another: no swimming until 30 minutes after you eat, always wait for your date to open your car door, never phone a boy (I could go on for paragraphs). The only one I took to heart (other than white jeans after labor day because I’m a ninny) was to always have my own bank account and to not “mix” funds––saved me losing a bundle at least twice!

I can’t see white jeans without thinking of my old college roommate, who swore she could summon a late menstrual period (remember being so scared when they were late? This was before drugstore pregnancy tests) by wearing white jeans and then leaving for the day without putting any tampons in her purse.

Mango infuriates me. Size 8? Really?
