In the mood for pieces with a Chanel-ish vibe

12

A Chanel-like jacket or sweater with jeans is a pretty classic spring look—as the peerless Emmauelle Alt shows here—and it’s one I’ve had on my mind lately as the weather gets increasingly bearable.

This adorable cardigan from Alex Mill is so fun with those punchy bright colors, but it’s pretty elegant too.

A J.Crew coat that looks like it costs way more than it does.

This chic knitted cardigan has just a hint of metallic thread, which is cool.

I have raved before about Iro’s Shavani jacket, which is a great blazer substitute for those who think they look awful in blazers.

I like the nubby texture of this metallic boucle jacket, and the fact that it has what looks like a windowpane plaid pattern.

A very ladylike tweed cardigan with cool chain details, which are very Chanel.

When I was at Lucky, one of the fashion editors had a gorgeous and understated Chanel jacket that was a dead ringer for this one.

The striped details here are so sportif.

This red striped jacket is so versatile and also nicely marked down.

You can find many Chanel-like items in the Ines de la Fressange collection at Uniqlo, including this fantastic striped sweater, which is a real steal.

Another nicely textured sweater, in a really good blue, from J. Crew.

I’d toughen up this sweet pink sweater by wearing it over a plain white tee, and with my most beaten-in jeans.

I am crazy for the rows of gold buttons on this cropped knit jacket—so Euro-chic.

A white tweed jacket that I’d wear—predictably—over a hoodie.

I don’t consider myself much of a Chanel type person (and these days I look mostly…pathetic), but these choices you made, Kim, are pretty stellar. I love the Kule sweater and even the J.Crew sweater (are their designs getting better?) and I always love IRO. Interestingly, over the last 24 hrs or so I’ve been contemplating a vintage leather jacket on etsy (Longevous store) that has a decidedly vintage almost Chanel vibe (even though the seller refers to it as a “Moto Jacket”) hummm….

    Whoa, love these.

Are we looking at short boot cut pants/jeans like on Emmanuelle Alt for this coming spring/summer?

Same question on the jeans. Love them so much.

Would snap up that J Crew coat in a heartbeat if it were still available in the gorgeous rich brown pictured here!

I love the teal, but find it amusing that it’s called a ‘lady coat.’ Is that like a ‘lady attorney’?

Fabulous roundup I want it all! I wear those retro Agnes B snap cardigans which have a similar vibe to the Alex Mill sweater (but monochrome)

I love the look of Chanel-like jackets with jeans, and these are such great choices. Also love Emmauelle Alt’s jeans!

While I’ve always appreciated a Chanel-ish vibe, I know it wouldn’t work on me (would make busty/broad-shouldered me look kind of frumpy/old-lady-ish). I think that vibe either works on someone petite or someone who’s tall/lanky. However, that Anine Bing jacket is very cool and modern. That I could go for.

I bought an Iro Shavani in a navy boucle, and I don’t love-love it; it does skew a little old on me. Although, if mature is the vibe I’m shooting for, it does make me look pulled-together. I’m petite busty but with narrow shoulders, though. On a leggier woman it would probably slay.
