I read about this down jacket last week, and have worn it every day since it arrived in the mail on Friday. It looks (does it not?) like some fancy Japanese designer piece that goes for a fortune, but in fact it cost just over $100, and I picked it up on Amazon.
I got this coat for a present and do not love it. It literally looks like I’m wearing a sleeping bag. This might be a for tall women-only item (I’m 5’1). That said, I might still wear it because it’s super cozy and also feels like I’m inside a sleeping bag. The photo made it seem more like a version of those parkas all the Brit Pop kids wore 20+ years ago, though, and it’s not.
I got this one in olive and I love it. It is soft, cozy and warm just trying it on. For $100 it is the perfect Christmas gift for myself. It is true to size so thanks for the sizing comments before I ordered. I thought the model was swimming in it (oversized?) and I would have bought smaller and then need to return it. The hood is so big yet feels great. I agree that it would look great with the added faux trim but I will leave it as is since I always have to wash my coats and jackets. The side zips are a great idea for layering. Looking forward to wearing it up to the snow.
I’ve had it since I read the NYMag review and LOVE it! Very warm and stylish. I love the pockets as well. Just ordered the faux fur ruff recommended above – thanks ladies!
I arrived in NYC from SF on Sunday night bringing along this coat (which I purchased after seeing Kim’s post and the weather forecast for NY this week) and that VERY night as I sat down for dinner on the lower east side my neighbor at the next table asked me where I got it. And then, an hour later, my neighbor at the other next table stood up to go … and put on the very same jacket. My host (Kim, it’s Becky-who-you-know-via-Larry and she says hi!) and I got a great chuckle.
Gotta luv engrish
“The hem of the eiderdown garment adopts unique crumples. This was coupled with perfect stitches and manifested a unique charm of magnificence but at the same time not too overt.”
doG knows I do not need another coat but the overwhelming enthusiasm is too compelling to resist…
Nymag had an entire article about this coat! Glad to hear it lives up to the hype. It does look very chic. How did you find the sizing to be?
Seems true to size.
Yes, please. Sizing info much appreciated.
I got mine a few days ago and am so happy with it!
And yes, true to size. Go up if you’re worried but there are side zippers and front snaps that can tighten or loosen things up
I had to go a size up because they were out of my size in the green…but I had to have it…too chic and what a crazy price!
I bought this in black last year and love it! Surprisingly it’s keeping me warm in freezing Chicago – didn’t expect this for $100. Sizing is true to size – I usually wear an 8 and bought the medium.
Just ordered this in the green, will have by Thursday – early Christmas gift to me!! Glad to hear it keeps you warm in freezing Chicago which translates to keeping me warm in freezing Iowa. I also like that it has a hood which my warm & toasty wool coat does not have.
How could I resist a coat that has allows me to “show the fashionable breath in the cold winter” and has “profile perpendicular line quilting to join”, along with these qualities??
* Almost touch not forget.
* Super soft, super light.
* Unprecedented light cutting in feeling and spell able,
* Improvement of fabrics, details, and clipping.
* The line is more beautiful, wearing more comfortable.
* Bring more capable curves on the vision.
I love this coat and am constantly asked where I got it! I did add a faux fur ruff to the hood for some extra style 😉
I like that idea, where did you get the ruff? Also I have the olive coat, if you have the same, what color did you use? Thanks!
I got this one, size M (31.5 in), in Honey:
Futrzane Trim Hood Faux Fake Fur Hood
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B074YKLZSW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It comes with buttons, and has loops sewed into the ‘pelt’, and I took it to my tailor and had them sew the buttons basically across from each other on the inside and outside of the hood, so the fur folds over and buttons on either side so you can take it off when you clean the coat. It is BEAUTIFUL and takes this already cool coat over the top. There are lots of pelt colors if you didn’t get the olive coat/don’t like my color choice!! (PS they are FAUX, but really nice quality.)
Thanks so much!
I love tweaking my clothes with special buttons or belts, but this is a genius level idea! Thanks for sharing the info. I’m going to check to see if any of my hooded parkas “need” fur trim. And the color selection is awesome.
I got numerous colors and sizes and decided on the black. I am usually a L or XL and had heard that it was roomy. That said, I took an XL because the bottom of the L was tight on me.
hey guys – I ordered it yesterday – so excited – can’t wait to get it – 2 day shipping – yah
