High-waisted jeans are still not entirely my jam, but I just got these Levi’s in the mail yesterday, and I put them on immediately and have only taken them off to sleep. They are exactly the right amount of cropped to show off a bit of boot*, but not so much that your ankles get cold, and the price is most definitely right. They’re also deeply comfortable, which is nice, as my main complaint about high-waisted jeans is that generally they’re not.
*I’m 5’6″
I do pretty well with Madewell jeans. Their 9 inch waist is perfect for me, and if the jean isn’t too stretchy the waistband doesn’t fold over (which some jeans do and I hate). I can’t remember if it was here that showed a black pair with a jagged hem, but I like those a lot. I haven’t managed to look cool in a cropped jean with a boot.
Are the jeans true to size?
Yes.
This is interesting because I find nothing worse than gut spilling over a waistband, and a saggy ass with pockets halfway down the cheek like a guy. Both of these things are avoidable with a higher waist. I guess maybe its getting use to a new feeling? (And having ones that aren’t tooo high so that you feel the fabric when you bend over) Maybe it also depends on a persons body type, and waist to hip ratio.
I like the top. Can’t figure out what a size 2 is supposed to be though. When are people going to start just measuring the finished garment flat? Pretty please?
These are perfect…but the crop. Nooo. I’ve had the hardest time finding normal length jeans I like. Levis—my go tos—now seem to crop everything. Sigh.
I know! I’m 5’9” so crops leave a good two inch gap between most ankle boots and the hem. Sigh.
5’10” here– SERIOUSLY yes on the hem issue.
SAME.
Same!
I just checked the Levi’s site. The 724 straight does come in regular, non-cropped length, but not in the same color as these cropped ones.
5’10” SAME SAME!
I agree with Ramona…..I get excited when I see a pair of jeans, only to be disappointed when I finally see the inevitable crop.
I can’t wait for the ankle length denim trend to die. At 6 feet tall, ankle length are more like mid-calf. I agree it’s impossible to find a regular length pair of jeans.
Yep. Gimme some normal length jeans please.
I’m 6’0″ and ‘regular’ length anything is essentially cropped (or, you know, just above or at my ankles, or looking too ‘wrong’) for me. I always always always have to order tall sizes, if they’re available, and unfortunately, sometimes the tall size is still too short. I usually only have two pairs of dark blue jeans (and one pair of white) in my closet at any given time, and I wear the bejeebies out of them, until they fall apart and I have to order again.
Sizing is so tricky!!
Cropped pants are the devil. No one looks good in them.
In theory I agree with you. Somehow though I actually like crops on other people. And I found a pair of Gap crop jeans that I liked on … but I couldn’t figure out the shoe issue, so I returned them. I think though that with ankle boots they can work. I don’t know *why* though – they *shouldn’t* work. And I may even prefer the cropped flares, which adds another layer of nuts.
Having said that, I share the chagrin about the lack of full length pants. I solved that problem by buying men’s pants and by shopping at Lands End (who hem for free, btw … the pants I got are nice except the rise seems too high for me but that was probably bc I forgot to think about it).
As for jeans though, if desperate enough … why not cut the bottoms off old ones and sew them onto the legs? If you walk around with an attitude like you bought them that way, no one will know the difference, denim is so variable now. Why should we put up with this? Or, you can stockpile. Or start a new company. Or find a seamstress?
Okay my paras disappeared again. no biggie.
To clarify … the L E pants were women’s pants. (The men’s I got at Costco. Also fabulous but for different reasons. Ask if you want to know.)
L E was literally the only place I could find a full length bootcut pant in a cotton blend. And except for the rise they are pretty great. (All the problems with them are, um, “human error.” Yeah, yeah, that’s what I’ll call it…)
I’m waiting for high waisted jeans that fit right on a short-waisted size 12 petite. I’ve been yearning for those Levi’s Wedgies but high waisted jeans come up around just below my bra line … not a good look.
PSA — these jeans are 30% off at the Levi’s website….
Sadly, they’re not on sale in the wash pictured.
A 2-post day – huzzah!
These look like normal waisted jeans to me. They fit right at the waist, the waist God gave us for our pants to rest on!
I like a slight crop with ballet flats in warmer weather. But I too would like longer lengths in colder weather, to wear with boots (I’m 5’8″ with a 32″ inseam).
I live in California. I’m only 5’1”, so I love the ankle length. I prefer mine not so flared, as it looks odd on my short legs. Love the ankle length, which gives just a nice, non-awkward less-than-1” gap above the boot or more for a shoe. Perfect with the 2” or less block herls I prefer.
I love the rinse on those Levis. Been searching for decent pair of dark gray or black rinse jeans.
I am very happy with high-waisted jeans. Perfect! I don’t want this romance to end.
I recently bought a pair of Everlane’s new stretch high waisted skinny jeans in washed black. They come in a cropped and regular length. I sent two pairs of their first denim drop back—they were awful. But these are GREAT. I’m 5’7″, pear-shaped, long-bodied, and fit like a dream.
Thank you for this recommendation, I just bought these jeans on Amazon for $71. My inseam is about 28″ so I’ll always appreciate a cropped length. Love the black Levi’s tab and waist tab on the back!
So, the jeans arrived and they are pretty great. True to size and quite comfortable. It’s been hard to find black jeans that aren’t *too* stretchy and don’t look like jeggings. Thank you for the recommendation, Kim!
My go-to Levi’s have been discontinued so I am on the hunt for new ones. These do indeed look nearly perfect, but sadly max out at a size 12. Sigh. Why oh why do American clothing manufacturers refuse to make even average-sized clothing?
Late to the party but I love cropped lengths but I’m only 5’5″!
I’m now the owner of the Levi’s 724.
