A whole lot of red

I love red, and it’s probably the most flattering color on me, but I rarely wear it because I have a tough time finding items in that color I like. So I did a deep dive over the weekend, and came up with the following, starting with this dress, which is so easy and really comfortable-looking, but just a little sexy, too.

I love the idea of a pop of color at your feet, and this sandal is so adorable.

Just a pretty, becoming floral wrap dress from Rebecca Taylor.

Red chinos are perfection with a white button-down or tee this time of year.

A gorgeous skirt with such a graceful hemline.

This slouchy plus-size tee has the most flattering neckline.

The tomato red is pretty ideal on this James Perse tee.

Just a fun, party-worthy plus-size dress.

The stripes here area lot, but I think this is really chic, and the price is great.

A well-cut, office-worthy blouse.

The cutaway shape of this blazer is so damn snappy.

An Iro jacket in red makes all kinds of sense: throw it on and your boring jeans and a tee are suddenly a happening outfit.

It’s a little on the bare side, but I am in love with this dress—it is so feminine and kind of sweetly retro.

And finally: these were too good not to include.

Things I bought, things I want

It’s a bit on the splurgy side, but I am so in love with my new Rachel Comey jumpsuit, as it is deeply flattering, the soul of comfort, and appealingly slouchy.

I wore it when I did my reading on Tuesday with these  gold clog sandals, which I ordered from Penelope Chilvers in England. They are reasonably priced—not cheap, but reasonable—so the exchange rate isn’t such a pain. And they’re so damn good.

I have been looking for a not-entirely-unsexy T-shirt bra to match my skin tone forever; they are very nearly impossible to find, because the features that typically make a bra sexy all show through when you’re wearing a tee. Finally, I found this, however, and it is perfection.

I know this is a little young for me, but I’m a wee bit obsessed (not with the strap hanging down like that, though).

And I am mad for these PE Nation leggings, which are loud in the best possible way—and on sale.

Ten black dresses for summer

Black dresses are a cornerstone of my summer wardrobe, but I do try to nod to the season by wearing them with bright accessories, like my red No. 6 huaraches or an Antonello bag. Here are a few I like a lot, starting with one that’s a little surprising for me, as I never much go for corset belts. But the one here is so subtle, and the lines of the rest of the dress are so clean, that it works.

sweet neckline on an inexpensive, throw-it-on-and-go option.

I like that this feels kind of Grecian and breezy and romantic.

Sexy but also rather sweet.

Just the simplest V-neck t shirt dress.

very feminine, flowy plus-size option (I’m sorry, I know you don’t always like it when I single out the plus-size options, but I feel like I need to when you can’t discern from the model that this is the case).

I’m pretty sure I posted this excellent black floral from the Kooples before, but now it’s on sale, and how great is that?

I just like how very comfortable this one looks.

An  office-friendly choice, from Violeta, which is Mango’s pretty good plus-size line.

The  asymmetrical hem looks so striking on this otherwise quite straightforward dress.
