We’ve got a new podcast episode today!

33

How could I not be excited for our newest episode of Everything is Fine? It features my longtime friend and sometime collaborator, style guru Andrea Linett (here, with the very edible Gino), who I know many of you are already familiar with because of her great blog and overall brilliant career. We’re discussing everything you need to know about getting dressed and looking super-chic over 40, which is a lot more achievable than some would have you believe. This was a really fun episode to record, and I think you guys will enjoy listening to it, because Andrea’s take on the topic is approachable and even exhilarating. Listen on Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. And if you like what you hear, please rate and review us on Apple podcasts.

I feel a little bad. I saw that comment yesterday, and while it seemed rather pointed, i didn’t say anything bc I don’t really know what he was talking about, and I figured everyone else (who did) would jump in. But I don’t feel right about it. (Of course other times I worry I talk too much here.) Anyhow, sorrying!!

I woke up far too early this morning (thanks menopause), but consoled myself by listening to this recent podcast whilst nursing my coffee. So. Much. Fun. I agree with everyone else who said the banter was perfect. The information was useful. And now I want to go through my closet to edit out the things that no longer make me feel confident. (And that Gino! A friend of mine always calls kids that cute “baby makers” because folks see them and immediately want a kid “just like him”)

Holy smokes, look at that adorable kid! Also worth noting, Andrea is actually wearing several of her recommendations.

I would still like a product run-down! Thise jeans look great, as does the jacket.

Check out Andrea’s blog for pix of Sassy Kim and Sassy Andrea! Oh, the nostalgia for those times!

In that post, they mention living in the same building at that time and being “two Rhodas”. Wouldn’t that make a great tv show? Their friend chemistry on the podcast is great so I feel like episodes of them doing Sassy-era buddy things would be incredibly loveable. Now, I am musing, which actresses could play 90s versions of them?

I have listened to all of them and I look forward to hearing this one.

Last week’s episode on invisibility was excellent…. even though I don’t feel invisible, I get it. Aging ain’t no joke, but it certainly has its benefits. Not giving a fuck is the main benefit I’ve grown to embrace – even though I very much give a fuck about dressing well.

    Keep ’em coming, girl!

I’ve been carrying on about ripped jeans forever – I clearly don’t feel comfortable if I keep having to ask! They fit really well but it’s time for them to make their way to another home.

Andrea said she patches her holes. I’m not too old for patches then, 51 years old? Hnmmmm.

I’ll listen to the rest of the podcast now – really great so far!

I still occasionally wear a ripped jean or two. My favorite pair has a blown-out left knee. Somewhat amusingly, that knee is always really cold (as in it bothers me enough to note it). I don’t remember that from the last rip jean go-round. Of course, when I was young we went to the Limelight practically naked (short, tight, leather and neon) in the dead of winter and I don’t recall being cold then either.

Naturally I found the name of the podcast RIGHT THERE IN THE FIRST LINE, immediately after I posted the question.
        And it’s only Tuesday.

Podcasts are great! Any chance you would consider doing one around the whole “Look-at-JLo-Body-at-50?” Thanks so much!

I could not have loved this episode more. I would totally listen to a podcast of the two of you bantering about fashion every single day.

You touched on button up shirts and how great they are but no brand mention (still looking for the holy grail of low wrinkle white button up). I turned it up and was on the edge of my seat hoping for a few!
    Would love some suggestions!

I love Everlane’s cotton button-downs, and—on the higher end—Nili Lotan’s. Also Frank & Eileen can be good, and Xirena’s are super-lightweight and great for summer.

    Two things:
    1. Thank you for making all of my Sassy dreams come true with today’s podcast episode. I could listen to you ladies talk all day.
    2. Where did you buy your glasses? I saw the promo pic of you and Tally on Woolfer and swoon! Love them.

I loved this episode so freaking much. As a long-time devoted reader of IWTBH and GOACA, it was a dream come true to listen to the two of you debate the pros and cons of the “french tuck”. Side note: I am a hardcore fan of the popover, with my favorite styles coming from Madewell and J. Crew. They have been a great solution for my post-menopausal “how do I dress this new body?” dilemma.

I particularly liked the part where you said you don’t really mean it when you said are never too old to wear anything if they feel good!

I appreciated the honesty and found it very helpful!

Loved all the podcasts so far! Enjoyed the advice on this one.

Where do you guys stand on the idea that “if you wore it the first time around, don’t wear it again”? For ex, I personally am a hard no on mom jeans (what I consider high-waisted, light-wash, tapered-leg styles). I don’t think there’s any way to make them look “intentional” at our age, but maybe I just have too many flashbacks of wearing them with crop tops in the 90s!

Interesting, Karin! I absolutely love jeans so it’s difficult for me not to attempt to wear any of the current styles. I have finally embraced the high-waist as long as it’s not too high, like a 12″ rise or something. I have three girls and my oldest who’s 17, in my opinion, is truly wearing a Mom jean and I’d be steering clear at all costs.

Maybe it’s OK to wear high-waisted, light-wash jeans as long as they’re not tapered?

I really enjoyed the podcast yesterday because I’m constantly wondering if I’m too old to wear something. But on the other hand, I can’t bear the thought of looking frumpy!

Overalls, camo, and converse forever! I really really really want to see a picture of the glamorous older lady mentioned in this episode (if I recall it was someone’s mother-in-law?) – sounds like an inspiration. Keep up the great work.
