This week on Everything is Fine

18

Happy Halloween, people! This week we’re talking all about what it is to be an adult and live in our own grown-up houses of horror, about Tina Fey, the Hulu show Ramy, bald spots, aggressive walking, getting in trouble as a grownup, Jenna Lyons, what we’re cooking, listener reviews and so much more. Listen in on Apple PodcastsSpotify, Stitcher, Audible, or wherever you get your podcasts.

I needed this episode! I call it adulting and I’m finding it so difficult lately. I’m a professional photographer and it drains my creativity. Perhaps at 54 I’m also too consumed with changing and thinning hair. Thanks for the laughs!

Oh dear – a Real Housewives/Everything is Fine crossover convo is something I didn’t know I needed! The Jenna Lyons addition blew my mind, and my only guess is she’s promoting her business or new product. Although the world has indeed gone crazy and this would be just another bit to add to that! Thanks for another great episode and giving us something to look forward to on Monday mornings!

Was that review from Chelsea Fairless the same Chelsea Fairless who hosts Every Outfit on Sex and the City? That would be an exciting crossover!

this was the ultimate cool girl nod! the everyoutfit pod goes way beyond sex and the city. smart and fun and bold and current if anyone needs a good pod. mondays are eid and fridays are everyoutfit. done.

Hi Kim and Jen, just wanted to say I’m a EIF podcast listener in London, if you come over and do a live show I’ll come, and I’ll bring snacks!
I also have an excellent cookbook recommendation for Kim, it’s
‘From the oven to the table’ by a fantastic British food writer, Diana Henry. I’ve made so many delicious things from it, you’ll find it so useful.

Hey Kim, re: the woman you didn’t give a ride to…this exact situation came up in my Buddhist Sangha last week. A woman was castigating herself for not doing more for a homeless person. Our meditation teacher (most compassionate person I know) said, “You can take someone into your heart, but that doesn’t mean you take them into your car.”

i cannot agree w/ you more Kimfrance about Extraordinary Atty Woo – as a Korean American, i was eager to check it out, but i was a little annoyed for exactly the reason you said!
i actually stopped the podcast to say this lol.

You two don’t sound nearly as cranky as you think you do, and you’re allowed a pout now and then since we all know being a grownup can suck. Great episode, as usual. I also like to eat protein at every meal and I made a yummy, easy sausage and vegetable frittata the other night. Half of it fed two of us and the leftovers were great. I’d post the recipe but I don’t do Facebook.
I don’t have a bald spot but despite being a faithful Nutrafol user my hair in an area on the back of my head is pretty thin. If I didn’t spray on Bumble & Bumble’s Brownish Hair Powder or use Color Wow Root Cover Up Powder I’d have that dreaded old lady white scalp showing through. Those products aren’t cheap but they last a long time.

This was a good episode. Regarding cooking, I get fresh inspiration from cookbooks and my latest favorites are from Julia Turshen (“Simply Julia” is her newest; “Small Victories” and “Now and Again” are others). She does a good job of presenting recipes with many variations, which is fun and practical.

Thanks for the reminder about Julia Turshen – she does live cooking classes from her home in the Hudson Valley (which I haven’t yet attended but follow in hopes that I will). I think they are on Sunday afternoons? And maybe via Instagram? I’m a collector of info that I hope to someday use…thanks for all the cooking ideas! With cozy season upon us I’m aspiring to be more of a home cook. And finally, my mail in ballot is on it’s way today. VOTE like all of womankind’s future depends on it…

Listening now and I too always felt the same about Tina Fey being not so nice (ironic bc Mean Girls)! But esp after what happened w that doctor. Very cruel.

Can I leave a rec here for the show Reservation Dogs? Truly a delightful show — super funny AND substantive. Pretty sure it’s on Hulu.
