This week on Everything is Fine

Jenn and I chat about Holiday cleaning; my AirB&B fail, and how to game AirB&B; first kisses; self-confidence; bachelorette parties; go-to karaoke songs; dancing; and, in short, pretty much everything that’s on our minds with the exception of this annoying and ongoing pandemic. So if you’re looking to take your mind off of Covid’s long shadow, do tune in. You can listen on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, or wherever you get your podcasts. And hey! If you join our Patreon, you can take part in a special live event tomorrow night!

also guys maybe think about giving the satc reboot and just like that another chance? i think it will redeem itself, mostly. plus it’s a shit ton fun to dissect with the girlfriends.
also, kim, thanks for acknowledging those of us who don’t live for this holiday. trying to make the best of it, swiftly.

I’m enjoying AJLT. Not sure why it’s getting so slammed. It feels accurate to my experience. Life gets harder, and sadder, in your 50s, whilst still having moments of fun and color and joy. A frothy comedy wouldn’t make sense. I appreciate that the “girls” of SATC are dealing with the nitty gritty of getting older.

This podcast has become the one I most look forward to, especially on weeks like this when I’m doing a ton of cooking and cleaning. Glad you’re loving Yellowjackets as much as I am! I’m totally obsessed. The pilot was one of the best first episodes I’ve ever seen, and as a Gen X-er, there is just so much about the teen girls that totally reminds me of my high school friends. And Christina Ricci and Juliette Lewis are the best.

Oh my god, and I just listened to the end of the episode and Aqualung is MY karaoke song. That’s so funny. People love it, and you really don’t have to know how to sing.

Do you make mysterious, evocative, Ian Anderson gestures when you perform the song? Do you “air flute?”

You crack me up, Kimbersam. But my in-house music expert says it’s their only big song with no flute.

Excellent podcast. I thought the 2nd episode of And Just Like That was much better than the first so maybe it’s taking them an episode or two to find out what they want this series to become or to find their Manolo Blahnik footing, if you will. One of the favorite destination bridal shower restaurants is just around the corner from my condo. I see young women in outrageous outfits (with one usually in some sort of white veil) every weekend (that’s the fun part––weekend before last there was a group where everyone was dressed in black, but wore bright neon wigs all in the same style, but all the colors of a neon rainbow––they looked fantastic). Plus the infamous Pub Crawlers pedal past constantly on the weekends and those are hugely popular with the bridal crowd. I always have to refrain myself from yelling out “Don’t do it! You’re too young!!” regarding both the heavy drinking and the marriage aspect. But mostly the marriage thing.

This episode was so funny! Thank you. Also, I live just outside of Nashville and was surprised to hear that Austin is also a bachelorette destination; NashVegas has been for a while now – and those pedal bars have been such a nuisance to people who live in and around downtown that there has been a huge effort to restrict them out of existence!

This episode had me laughing out loud multiple times. I love when it’s just you two talking. Yellowjackets is compelling and creepy and all-around great. I’m all in.

This was hilarious. Like some other commenters, I look forward to listening on a long commute home on Mondays. By the time I arrive my smile muscles are a little achy! I also enjoyed the slightly more serious conversation about confidence. Totally agree with Jenn. Not a point of arrival. It ebbs and flows. Helpful to think of it that way.

The greatest episode – your podcast has been a true gift this year – thank you! Jenn – your comments about anxiety taking photos for strangers, so funny and true. And you didn’t mention the added anxiety of handling a stranger’s phone -the germs!

On Mondays lately I like to knock off work before it’s totally dark, head out to the elliptical in my garage and listen to Everything is Fine. I really look forward to it. Happy holidays, Kim and Jen!

Such a funny episode. I’m sure I looked like a freak walking around my neighborhood with my earbuds underneath my earmuffs nodding and laughing all by myself. A good laugh and the return or more daylight will get me through! Enjoy the holidays!
