Wow, this episode felt like it was aimed directly at me — age 55, looking to transition out of a career in academia to freelance editing. It’s harder than it looks! I took many notes, and plan to order Lindsey’s book as well. Re-listening to this episode could be a good antidote to discouragement too, as needed. Thank you!
What a great show; however, I may be biased. At 50 I returned to school after never finishing. It was the best decision. After graduating I did a fellowship in England. After returning it did take a while to get a job. Initially, I took one where the pay was horrible but after a few months, I was offered a position I had interviewed for several months previous. After two years in that position, I made contacts/networks with another company that hired me at twice what I had been making and exactly what I wanted to do.
Best episode in ages! I’m sharing with everyone I know. Aces, to quote KF.
