It’s a whole new thing

13

Welcome to the new site, ladies. It is my sincerest hope that you will find the changes delightful and not at all alarming, and for those of you who read GOACA on your mobile devices, that ought to be a whole lot easier now. We are still working out kinks, so apologies if you had a tough time accessing the site over the past few days, and beg your pardon in advance for any hiccups in the coming days. Also, big old thanks to Hanna, Matt, Sabrina, and everyone else who helped make this happen. Please share your thoughts and suggestions in the comments, and I hope your day is excellent.

Just look at this shiny sparkly fancy-pants new design! Everything is like *right here* and organized and easy to read and use, and perhaps most importantly, YOU KEPT MS. PAC MAN ROBINSON. Good on ya, France.

(Ok, so I’m Delia now instead of DeDe, please refrain from making Beetlejuice jokes, people.)

I’m so glad, it was just an upgrade! I was worried that something had happened and I would no longer be able to read your site at work.

It takes a while to load. I sit here staring at three dots cycling through until it finally loads.

New site looks great. I can access it in Chrome on a PC, but when I try to get here on my iPad, on Safari, the three dots just go and go and go and it never loads. (I like the shades of pink on the dots, though.) Anyway, I don’t have any problem with Disqus on my iPad with other sites, so I’m hoping this is a glitch you’re working on. Thanks!

After being on the new site for a few days, I do have some quibbles….
    1. It would be nice to have a link to comment at the bottom of a post, rather than having to scroll back up to the top.
    2. It’s kinda slow loading and I feel that the pictures are actually too big, both on the horizontal top feed and as the page loads. I’ve taken to reducing the site size to 75%…. perhaps it’s just me, but it feels oversized.
    3. That horizontal top feed (not sure what to call it)…. it would be nice if when you click on the right or left arrow, the boxes shift over/advance by threes instead of just one (because we have already looked at the three up there, might as well see three new ones).
Thank you for listening and thank you even more for your essential site!

is perfectly happy with the revamped site, but terribly disappointed in the new search engine. I love the archive! As an example: before, if I searched “capsule work wardrobe”, I would get a list of pertinent posts, just the titles, not the full-blown article. Now, when I do the same search, the only post that comes up is “Your Questions, Answered”. Why?I would be so grateful if you could return the old way of searching through the archives. I know exactly which posts I am searching for, but now have no way of accessing them. Thanks!
