In which I appear on a podcast

16

The other day, after I ran a post on summer preppy looks in which I waxed nostalgic about The Official Preppy Handbook, I received a lovely email from that book’s author, Lisa Birnbach. Turns out she’s a GOACA subscriber, and she invited me to appear on her super-excellent 5 Things podcast. We taped last week, and you can hear it on Apple, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Play Music, You Tube, and on Lisa’s website. Do listen in, and share your thoughts in the comments.

16 Thoughts on In which I appear on a podcast

Totally enjoyed the podcast! Hadn’t realized that Lisa Birnbach had one — and found it a treat to hear your voice, Kim! I somehow always imagined you having a New York accent, even though I’d read in your bio that you come from Texas — so it was an interesting surprise to hear that you have a pleasant, mild, “normal” accent to my California ear!

I enjoyed this podcast very much. Lisa Birnbach sounds like the kind of fun and funny girlfriend who just brings out the best in people. Kim, I have to say that your blog and its commenters absolutely fly in the face of the popular (incorrect) notion that women can’t be nice and supportive of each other. And what an excellent use of the internet, right? Bringing out the best in perfect strangers. You and I may never meet in person, but you’ve got a fan for life, darlin’. You’ve helped me in ways you’ll never know. Love, Mae

Listening now. I really like the two of you together! Great insight on men dressing. I feel like I’m too busty and curvy hipped to get away with it.

Loved listening to this. And thought you might be interested to hear that while most of your listeners are in NYC, you’ve got a fan in her late 30’s in Kansas City here, too!

I loved Lisa’s podcast! You were the same wonderful Kim we know and love. “Couplathings”: 1) I appreciate your ethics and that there are certain designers and shops you refuse to publicize due to their lack thereof. 2)Hell yeah to uniform dressing. 3) We can be both sequins and tomboy as my 6-yr old granddaughter proves in her sequined & tulle “basketball skirt” that she wears to play all of her games. 4) Thanks for your kind appreciation of us readers. We think you’re pretty amazing!

Great podcast. I really enjoyed your comments on personal style. I’d like to know your take on women of a certain age wearing “yoga pants” as athleisure wear.

The discussion ranged kind of all over the place, which was fun. It was nice to hear your voice, Kim, and unsurprisingly you came off really well. I liked when the opinions you voiced weren’t wishy washy (ixnay on the ripped jeans).

OH that would be wonderful! I need more podcasts that aren’t about murder or politics.

I had to stop with the MurderCasts. They gave me DREAMS.

Just listened and loved it. I felt like I was eavesdropping on a fascinating conversation between two really smart and interesting women. Oh wait – that’s what I WAS doing! Kim, I’d also love it if you started a podcast!
