I’d go for this James Colarusso bull head pendant for sure.
Then I’d head on over to the Zero+Maria Cornejo overstock sale—which just launched last night and is really good—and pull the trigger on this gorgeous shearling.
And I might also go for this show stopping ceramic wall hanging by Michelle Quan.
A Ferragamo wallet.
An Elsa Peretti bone cuff bracelet. Medium in either the silver or black finish.
I don’t even dare LOOK at splurgy things so I don’t have an answer ready … possibly something for my house? Like getting the parquet redone, the vinyl in the kitchen replaced and the bathrooms remodeled? New windows? A new kitchen, I think!
A little off topic, but this Zero+Maria Cornejo is really annoying. It sort of screams we overproduced a bunch of stuff and now we want to unload with all risk to the customer and hold a final sale without any measurements and minimal sizing information and descriptions. Its irresponsible. I know ZMC isn’t the only company that does this, of course. I have a policy to not patronize any company or retailer that does final sale. If you can’t appropriately describe your product to minimize returns, and stand by your product if it doesn’t work for your consumer, you probably shouldn’t be doing this.
High quality, perfectly fitting matching lingerie sets. Or custom leather ballet flats.
I was shopping the Anthropologie home sale earlier and oh, the things I would buy if I had the spare cash! I did actually just buy a small splurge–tickets to the Cubs-Mets game in September that is also a Bark in the Park game so I can bring my small dog. I’ve always wanted to do this but they sell out so quickly, so I’m very excited to have snagged my seats!
A three week trip to France…or Italy…or anywhere really
A house on a beach (that isn’t going to get flooded by rising sea levels or blown away by a hurricane––this is fantasy, right?).
World peace?… Or really good spices. Saffron! Vanilla beans! That Cornejo shearling is pretty much perfection too……
I would get some shirts made just for me, and maybe some suiting pieces while I was at it. Min Jin Lee said in The Cut recently that she started getting tailored clothes when she started making money, and now I’m kind of obsessed with the idea.
I’m about to embark on a house renovation, which is a big splurge within which I will not to able to splurge on any single item. Even so, I dream of Eskayel wallpaper for the powder room and, when I’m far out of touch with reality, the laundry room as well (a nice stripe). This for powder room: https://eskayel.com/product/edera-beryl/
that’s my first instinct, to splurge on some wallpaper from Cole & Sons!
Exactly what cw wrote…. and I would add a balcony to one of the rooms on our second floor.
Dang, I didn’t think of a balcony! Perfect.
1 ct dimaond earrings (2 ct total) and I would never buy another piece on fine jewelry again.
A black leather sofa from Design Within Reach. A trip to see aurora borealis from Finland igloo hotel. But maybe more realistically, some kind of laser face treatment for dark spots and beginning texture issues.
I don’t know if this is a thing money can buy, but: a really, really good pet sitter. A Mary Poppins for the dog and cat is what I’m talking about. Is anything more nerve-wracking than leaving town for three weeks and having doubts about the sitter? Please, I WILL PAY!
Oh my goodness, Stephanie, YES!!!!!
Current fantasies include a personal trainer (time to learn how to do free weights —I’m never going back to the gym, it seems), a few sessions with a personal stylist who can go through my closet and help restock it with stuff that works better, a nice long vacation somewhere both interesting and relaxing, ideally meeting up with friends to make it social , and a gorgeous patio furniture set (big comfy sectional sofa and fire pit). That’s it for the moment. Also, I LOVE that wall hanging and will add it to my fantasy splurge list. Her work is gorgeous. The pendant is also really appealing even though I do not feel like someone who would wear a bull pendant—I like that it’s abstracted, and looks more like sculpture than like an actual bull. Nicely done.
Hi there! I used a couple different apps and online programs to learn how to lift weights. My favorite (and the one I’ve used for over a year) is Lift to Get Lean. It’s a whole weight lifting/ nutrition program. I’ve learned a ton and it’s given me way more confidence in lifting (which, from everything I’ve read, is the only way to go for middle aged women LIKE ME 🙂 ). Anyhow, check out LTGL if you’re interested – I can’t say enough good things! (Also, Conni Jesperson is a great stylist who works with clients remotely. 🙂 )
I would splurge on getting my formerly lupine jaw and swan neck back. Also, a Tesla, five of my neighbors have them, and (darn it) I want one.
Kimbersam, check this out: Abagail James neck and jowl massage. I swear it’s miraculous. After three days (three days!) my niece said my jaw looked “snatched” (?!) AJ also has a book: The Glow Plan. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CBnZKa8p-E
I’d love one of those cool stand along saunas for our next house. BTW those earrings are amazing, but they make my ears hurt looking at them! Does anyone else have saggy earlobes? The things I didn’t know about getting older. I can only wear whisper light dangly things now or they all have to be stud based. In the grand scheme, not a huge deal but still a little sigh.
Yes, among the many unanticipated consequences of aging… one of my earlobes now has a huge CREASE.
Also ditto the person who wants her neck fixed. I am almost 53 and my neck has held up pretty well until now, but I just noticed a … what would you call it… like a single origami fold. I threw some collagen cream on that b*tch, stat.
A Zpacks cuben fibre tent which weighs less than a pound! There is a world of boutique ultralight backpacking gear that those who only shop at REI can’t even imagine.
We have to rebuild part of our backyard fence. Right now our yard is a hodgepodge of 3 different fence styles—If I could splurge I’d have all the fences redone with really nice wood and a custom side gate built.
I just did splurge and order these with prescription lenses. I was using prior prescription ray bans . ( 2 years) –
Self talk won with how they will be used so much ( cost per use !) and you know , change my life 🙁

Gucci Loafers.
Going to Jazz Fest. Getting a bathtub big enough for a tall man and a short woman to be in at the same time.
That’s so funny. I saw that Jacket yesterday when I was scrolling through the ZMC Overstock sale (why don’t they set it up so you can do a search for an item?) and I instantly thought of you! Didn’t you buy it from real real and it was stolen off your porch? I think it’s a sign it’s in the overstock sale and you should buy it. As for what I would purchase right not, my husband and I are under contract for 5 acres in Montana. I can’t imagine wanting anything more than a simple farmhouse . Can I ask for a house?
These earrings, which I think are exquisite and my husband thinks are old lady. Would be interested in what you guys think https://paulmorelli.com/product/bird-cage-drop-earrings/?gclid=CjwKCAjw9qiTBhBbEiwAp-GE0RcjeE4sNhJgfMUHAbrPeJyopZnSKlaNjv0bZ5CO9FiMNCDKamHZoxoCFhMQAvD_BwE
My husband would say the same thing but I LOVE them!
Those earrings are fabulous – Schiaparelli-Lulu Guinness-esque I think. I bet your husband won’t find them old lady once you have them on. Like most things, it’s all in the styling : )
Thanks for the feedback all of you — I thought the same thing — kind of Schiaparelli like, however, after looking in the mirror this morning after finally being able to see clearly after a cataract surgery, I’m going to revise my splurge to a freaking FACE LIFT
I would need to see them on someone. Otoh, if you really like them, then who cares? We don’t know each other but I sense that they would look really good on you. ; )
I love that you say that without knowing what I look like — I do I feel I know you through the comments here though!
Holy crap those earrings are amazing! Almost 9K though! You could do an all-black Gallerista look and those earrings would knock everyone out. Please buy them 😉
Darling, I love that you think I can afford them….
About being able to afford them… Kim, do you think you could do an EIF about matters financial? I mean how much we should be saving, when it’s OK to splurge, etc? I feel that we have enough disposable income to get these earrings — my husband doesn’t. Like many girls of a certain age I defer to his judgement, but I feel like a financial idiot and would love not to be.
but that $9k is for 18k – not bad at all!
🙂
Those are cool , I would think they were from Anthropologie and not that kind of splurge. If I was going to splurge right now it would be for a hot tub for my deck. Was supposed to get one from a friend who is moving and it fell through. You ladies I am sure know what happens to us once that seed is planted…. Happy dreaming (and shopping, I’m sure something I cant live without will appear from this post) everyone.
well, the last time Kimfrance posed this fun Q , I remember I wanted the Apple seed necklace by Ted Muehling
https://augustla.com/products/ted-muehling-10k-appleseed-choker
I even went to the Ted Muehling store in Tribeca to try it on and it’s really something,
but in the end I couldn’t buy it because it’s 10k and $3k is a lot to spend on 10k lol,
(I was torn on this -of course it’s a piece of art and the value is not in the gold content,
but 10k changes over time which would be sad after spending $3k).
so my splurge would be to order it in 18k.
🙂
Chanel loafers. A shit ton of Botox.;)
Visit my daughters in Ireland, Colombia and Chicago (and stay in nice hotels and eat delicious meals), and for my hubby, Billy Joel tickets NOT in the nosebleed section!
