Here’s your playlist, ladies

42

This playlist has no overarching theme whatsoever and musically, it’s quite all over the place. The only way to listen to it is on shuffle. This was fun, so if enough of you enjoy it, I’ll make another.

Totally enjoying this playlist. A few songs are new (St. Vincent) and others are solidly loved. Thanks for doing this. And yes, would listen to another.

    Love the list!!!!

And St. Vincent/Annie Clark is a badass…. The video is totally worth a view (as are most of hers – she’s as much a visual artist as a sonic one). Thank you!

#20 – I saw Heavenly play in SF many moons ago and Calvin jumped onstage to sing this with them. The best times!

Okay. What am I doing wrong. Opened up Spotify on my phone, went to “search,” typed in GOACA, the playlist…nothing. Then I tried about a million other iterations of those words…nothing. Then I handed my phone to my daughter who also tried everything she knew how to do…nothing. So can someone give me a tutorial? Is this saying something about my age? My brain? My tech skills?

    Oy and Egad.

Open the post on your phone and then click the play button (at the top of the graphic just above the whole list of songs) and that should open Spotify for you and go directly to the playlist

The fact that you put “Explain It To Me” by Liz Phair on here means I’m yours forever. I used to play it on repeat 20 years ago when I was feeling dramatic. xo

Amazing group of songs. LOVE that you put Spacehog’s “In The Meantime” on it–one of the greatest 90s songs, and yet sounds like it could have emerged from a range of other eras. Lots more to love here, plus “Divine Hammer,” which is, for me, the best tune on “Last Splash.”

Solid list. I pressed play and started listening without looking at the song titles – surprised and delighted to hear Worried About You! One of my RS favorites.

Thank you! Am listening to the playlist now — fabulous.

One small tweak (we GOACA always have opinions, right?) — Linda Ronstadt has Parkinson’s and is in fairly precarious financial straits. One of the only (the only?) song she wrote was with the Stone Poneys, “Different Drum.” As you probably know, artists get very little money for performing — the big money is in writing and publishing the music. So I added “Different Drum” to your list and encourage all to buy it as well and add it to your playlists. We GOACA need to support each other.

Maybe next playlist could be songs written by women writers/publishers?

I’m late, but I love this list. Thank you for putting it together.

All my cd’s were stolen in grad school, and there are still some bands I am rediscovering. I kind of forgot that Tiger Trap existed, and now I’m listening to Super Crush and wow, big mood as the kids say.
