As most of you know by now, the way I earn money from this blog is with affiliate links—you buy a coat I post from Nordstrom, say, and I receive a commission. The fact of this allows me to see what you all purchased here, and I’m not surprised that over the course of the last year, you were interested in comfortable, well-priced classics. This dress from Ba&sh in an exception—it was not cheap when I posted it. But it’s half off now.
Sadly, these grey J Crew corduroys are sold out in many sizes, which isn’t surprising because they’re so perfect: high-but-not-too-high waist, and a nice, relaxed boyfriend-y fit. Not to fret, though. They’re available in a lot of other good colors.
This puff sleeve metallic top was in my post on parties in a top, back when we all thought we’d be going to parties this season. I always like a metallic, and I also like that it’s pretty subtle here.
I don’t think I’ve ever done this post and not had this brilliant Emerson Fry Caftan make the list. It’s ultralight and has the best print, and if you keep it out of the dryer it will last ages.
This center-seam crewneck looks like a much pricier one I have from Isabel Marant.
When I posted this long cotton tee, it only came in the white I’m showing you, but now it’s offered in several other good hues.
The Dre jean from Rag & Bone is my current favorite pair, and a whole lot of you went for it too. They come in a ton of washes, and I don’t have this excellent one yet, but want it.
This parka is part of Uniqlo’s collab with Jil Sander, and I think it’s just endlessly chic. It’s marked down right now, too.
I’m glad so many of you took my word for it on the Kosas Air Brow front: I’ve tried a LOT of products to make my ever-thinner brows look thick and healthy, and this is by far the best. It’s lightweight, precise, and comes in way more shades than most beauty brands offer, so you can get the precisely right match.
This corduroy utility jacket is super-spiff, and it currently so on sale that it’s practically free.
This cashmere turtleneck was another winner: nice, thin, and layer-able.
I love these posts! I went for the cords, which fit hard to fit me wonderfully, and the metallic top, which looks so much more lux than it’s price tag – maybe I’ll wear it tonight on my couch watching Becoming the Ricardo while sitting home to watch Becoming the Ricardos).
Ugh….that’s what happens when don’t read before hitting “post comment.” It’s early – and now you all know what my plans are for tonight x 2!
Kim, I’m sure this has been answered before, but if we click on a link but end up buying the product in a different color, do you still get the commission?
I’ve asked – and Kim’s answered! In most cases, I think Kim gets commission if we buy anything from the store (featured or not) via the link, so I *try* to remember to hunt for recent GCA links to Kim regulars (e.g., Anthro, Nordstrom, Madewell) before making non-Kim-prompted online purchases from them.
That’s really good to know, because Rag & Bone kicked off their end of year sale today. There are lots of jeans there, and a couple sizes left of the Slade blazer in navy, on huge discount.
Yes, I’ll receive a commission no matter what you buy once you’ve clicked on the link. Thanks!
Before I dash to ready the house for the big family dinner…I always wish there was a Poshmark link for every post. That way, when I’m inspired by the post, but need to use Poshmark for its sizing and price options, the presiding Kim still gets some commission.
I can attest to the Emerson Fry Caftan (only the long one was too long for me––5’2″––which my daughter promptly “stole”––5’8″–– but I ordered it in the shorter version which works! Also the J.Crew cords (2 pr)––I was told by one of the customer rep folks that more would be available after the holidays because of returns so don’t give up!! And the Dre jeans LOVE THEM!
I’m 5′ 2″ as well and I also purchased the short version of the caftan earlier this year. I lived in it when I was in MX earlier this month.
I love these posts, since it gives me a 2nd or 3rd chance at items I might have hesitated to buy earlier. I also purchased the cords in grey and ivory this time around.
I bought the Emerson Fry caftan (I’m 5’1″) and put it in the dryer ONCE! Now it is the perfect length!
Sorry for being all over the comments today, but I just put on my personal favorite GOACA purchase of 2021 and figured I’d share (it’s on mega-sale, too). I LOVE this sucker and would never have found it sans Kim: https://www.adidas.com/us/marimekko-oversize-hoodie-with-golden-flower-graphic/H20415.html?af_channel=Search&af_click_lookback=30d&af_reengagement_window=30d&c=PLA&cm_mmc=AdieSEM_Feeds-_-GoogleProductAds-_-NA-_-H20415&cm_mmca1=US&cm_mmca2=NA&dfw_tracker=24819-H20415-0003&ds_rl=1257009&ds_rl=1256970&gclid=Cj0KCQiA2ZCOBhDiARIsAMRfv9LlnUcbIWyxFkiAW4l654QTpCZzOy18zmJ4H0xU8STGcDeBNa9e6PUaAuT1EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds&is_retargeting=true&kpid=H20415&pid=googleadwords_temp&sourceid=543457011H20415
You’re right, Eloise, that’s a really great hoodie. hmm……I mean it IS xmas, right?!
CW, it is absolute perfection in hoodie form – go for it! (I like my hoodies super oversized and kept – as a fairly slender fellow 5’ 2” – the medium, but the small would have worked as well.)
Just want to tell you how much I have loved your podcast. You and Romolini are the best. So interesting, fun, and funny. Love you to just talking. In world of thousands of podcasts trying to be something they are not, you and Jen keep it real and I love it.
Agreed – love your podcast and your friendship which is so endearing . I sounds so much like the back and forth between me and my friends which makes it super relatable. Your holiday episode together was terrific – Jenns Christmas tacky and Kim’s vocal fry (I thought vocal fry was a millenium thing too!). Anyhoo – I am finally going to buy the Emerson Fry caftan – been eyeing it forever!! I took the plunge and bought the Jill Sander Uniqulo collab coat because it looks gorgeous on the model but I’m too short waisted to pull it off so off to the returns it goes . Happy Holidays!!
I’ve bought a few of those items over the year. And just bought two more while scrolling this post. BTW, JCrew has the grey cords back in stock in some sizes. Mine included!
In fact, also bought the Rag and Bone jeans. And my other favorites are Citizens of Humanity that Kim recommended YEARS ago!
I love this round up every year. Would love to see the next 10 too 🙂
I bought the cords in Ivory. They are a great winter white addition!
The cords are a winner. Bought them in yellow when they were half off and they are very flattering and fun. Thanks for the great tip!
Ordered that dress! Merry Christmas to me – and all of you!!!
I was thrilled to see that dress on sale because I remembered wanting it so bad…then I realized it’s viscose. I still can’t justify the price of a really cool print on some really cheap fabric. Dad face. Is there such a thing as elevated viscose? Please convince me.
Did anyone else see this segment on the news about the environmental impact of viscose? I was horrified. Yet another thing I can in good conscience never buy again… (Debby Downer here, sorry.) https://www.nbcnews.com/investigations/fabric-hailed-eco-friendly-rainforest-tells-different-story-rcna8080
