When my new friend Tally told me that Lancome’s Monsieur Big Mascara is so good it makes you look like you have lash extensions, I knew I had to order myself some, post-haste. And I must say, Tally spoke the truth: this stuff is rather amazing—it seems that all volumizing and/or lengthening mascaras result in some degree of clumpiness, but with this stuff, you get absolutely none of that—just clean, long, pretty lashes.
I love Sephora’s Favorites Lashtash collections they put out usually a couple of time a year. It’s an amazing deal with 5 trial size mascaras PLUS a voucher for a full size version of your favorite for only $28. Highly recommend!
Through this, I have discovered my favorites (I usually get the waterproof versions to avoid raccoon eyes, but the regular formulas have been fine too): 1. Buxom mascara – the brush is AMAZING and 2. Tarte – Lights, Camera, Splashes. Neither budge on my all day.
Here’s the link to the current one they are offering: https://www.sephora.com/product/lashstash-to-go-P440531?icid2=products%20grid:p440531:product
I bought the Thrive Liquid Lash extensions based on asking a stranger what she used to make her lashes look amazing. Admittedly, I have terrible lashes, but Thrive has only helped them a little. Looking to go back to using a serum, too as Latisse no longer makes a difference for me. Heard good things about Rodan and Fields – anyone have feedback on it or any other serum?
I love how mascara obsessed everyone on this thread is! This is why I read the comments here and pretty much nowhere else. You’ve built a great community Kim!
I have Asian lashes and Big Monsieur did nothing but give me big clumps. Thrive Liquid Lash Extensions smudged and flaked off so badly after a few hours I gave it away that day. Benefit Roller Lashes gave no volume, no length, null. I have my fingers crossed for an unopened tube of Pat McGrath FetishEyes i’m hoping is a miracle. Currently using Younique 4D Epic which is giving me lots of unclumpy length.
A little overly excited to see this here and just want to say that it works especially well with an eyelash curler beforehand. I’m a little nuts about eyelashes.
I am happy to share the eyelash curler trick I learned from a beauty editor many moons ago. Before applying mascara, curl your naked eyelashes, then heat the curler with a blow dryer and curl your lashes again. Then add mascara. If I don’t curl my lashes they’re barely visible even though Latisse has made them pretty long. When I curl them the result is dramatic, and heating the eyelash curler makes the curl last. Amazing!
I really like this stuff. I got a sample from Sephora at some point & use it when I want vavoom. I’ve even thought of buying a tube when I run out, not to replace my beloved Benefit Roller Lash (which replaced ALLLL my Lancome mascara) but you know, to supplement. The only problem I have with it is that it’s more likely to smudge than the Roller Lash but hey, you can’t have everything.
How I love the name!!!
Do you like it more than the NARS one (Climax?)??
I follow a vlogger on YouTube that absolutely RAVES about this mascara – and she’s got access to every brand imaginable. I have an unopened tube, but guess what I’m digging into today? 😊
This has nothing to do with mascara, but…I received my Wedgie Straight Levi jeans today that Kim posted about a few days ago. They fit snug in the waist, but not in hip, thigh or leg (so refreshing!) and look like I’m on my way to the beach for a bonfire with s’mores. Because of my height deferential to most models-type-women these hit me riiiggghhht at my ankle. They are HIGH waisted. There is not even the hint of a belly-button. They will go into heavy summer rotation because they are also COMFORTABLE right out of the package!
I appreciate this little mini review, c.w. I seem to have the total opposite body type and now know to definitely avoid these, no matter how much I (delusionally) think I can make them work.
The Wedgie looks fantastic on a lot of people but I’m not one of them! I felt as though I was sawed in half, so snug around the waist. But the leg and hip areas were downright baggy so I couldn’t size up! The 6397 “Mini Skinny” Kim posted about a while back are just about perfection, as far as I’m concerned.
Ooooo, YES! I have the 6397 mini camo jeans––Love Them!!
Fellow opposite body type person! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve thought, ohhhh just try the Wedgies again, they’re soooo cool. And ya know what? Nope. Practically up to my bra lol. I’ve got the belly button coverage thing happening right now with a slightly too big pair of 501s so you can just imagine, lol!
I can’t wear the 501s either!
Good to know! I like that it comes in brown.
Have you tried Thrive’s Liquid Lash Extensions yet? It’s pretty terrific, in that strangers-comment-on-it kind of way.
I love this mascara, I am on my third tube. I used to use Diorshow, which I also great, comes in a close second to Monsieur Big.
A tip from a Sephora saleswoman: The mini size of mascara is often easier to handle and apply because the brush is smaller. The Lancome comes in mini and so does the one I’m trying now and really like (no clumping, no smudge) — Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara.
