I went to the spa, and my brain all but melted away in a sea of forest hikes and swimming, lavender sea salt scrubs and crudité. It was very, very nice, and all a little too relaxing, and it has taken me a while to get back in the swing of things (and in truth, I’m not entirely certain I’m there yet). So please bear with me as I get back up to speed, and meanwhile, here are a couple of discoveries I made while I was away: first up is this Hourglass lipstick (the color is called I Can’t Live Without) and it is one of those your-lips-but-better shades, only maybe just a tiny bit darker, and now that I’m trying not to do a too-bold lip, which I’m told can be aging, I’m finding that it’s just the ticket.
The problem with deodorants, as opposed to antiperspirants, is that if they’re scented and you sweat even a little, that scent gets stronger, and unless you’re a really big fan of that scent, this can be a problem. This stuff, however, smells of nothing (well, as much like nothing as anything can) and it really works, too.
I need spa!! Which one?
Canyon Ranch.
In August, I was at the Wheatleigh (was going to Tanglewood, John Williams Film Night, so we did the weekend there) and I met a couple of execs from Canyon Ranch. I have never been there, but after your review, it’s solidified.
Thank you for the deodorant tip! The scent thing is a definite issue and I am interested in this category. Otoh with allergies I often can’t smell much at all, which solves that little problem. For me. bwahaha.
I am glad you had a good time! It sounds divine.
Looks like the lipstick is a refill that sold separately from the packaging. Although I guess you can use the refill on its own. Capitalism! For me (53) I can still do a bold lip–or I am choosing to believe I can as I am far to lazy to put on eye makeup. I need to have some fun 🙂
I posted the refill on purpose because it’s the cheaper version, and because the fancy applicator it comes with if you spend more is, to my mind, unnecessary. Here it is, if you’re curious: https://rstyle.me/+0uChGndTb4PM3Pfd_TACDg
I say, feel free to move at the serene pace of someone who knows she’s worth waiting for. I got a sheer cranberry lipstick for fall last year and it is so versatile. Meanwhile, I’m exploring Nivea’s aluminum free range. So far, I like it, but the only way I know for sure about deodorant is it holding up in stressful situations. I’m not exactly keen to put myself in a stressful situation just to know for sure. I guess I’ll find out during the holidays!
Thanks for that first sentence, D. That was really lovely.
I meant it and thank you for the appreciation.
I spent a week in August at a very low-key beach, bobbing around in the warm, gentle surf. I’m still blissed out. In yoga class, at the end when they tell us to visualize something, I visualize my raspberry-colored toes going over the waves…
Hope your spa days provide you with something you hang onto, too. That’s the real benefit.
I used to love a bold lip but not so much anymore.
I would love to use all-natural products and support smaller companies rather than corporate behemoths, but I just can’t get my head (or my budget) around $17 deodorant.
Glad you had such a relaxing trip. All of it sounds lovely. Hope you can hang on to that brain-at-peace for a while longer! Both these products seem amazing. I have never been able to tolerate scented deodorant so will definitely give this one a try. And, yes, the lipstick troubles as we age…up to this point I find I put on lipstick, am unhappy with the results and end up wiping most of it off. Somehow a brighter lipstick seems to make my lips look thinner (and women’s lips do thin as they age) so I’ll look forward to trying this one!
